Diane Lane Talks JUSTICE LEAGUE And Controversial BATMAN v SUPERMAN "Martha!" Scene
Diane Lane talks here about returning as Martha Kent in Justice League and that big "Martha!" scene between the Dark Knight and Man of Steel in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice...
During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Diane Lane confirmed that she will be reprising the role of Martha Kent in Justice League. That's not big news, but the actress did shed some light on what Clark Kent's mother will be getting up to in the superhero ensemble. "I don't think I'm allowed to talk much about it. But it was good for me, selfishly, to have a reunion with everyone and meeting some of the new characters," she explained when asked about the Zack Snyder-helmed film.
After discussing her desire to work with Nicole Kidman (who will play Aquaman's mother Atlanna, presumably in flashbacks), Lane was quizzed on that controversial "Martha!" scene in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It's a moment which has been widely ridiculed since last March, but the actress made it clear that she found it appropriate for the story and doesn't understand all the fuss.
"It's the compassion for a man who's lost his mother. When you understand the wound, you can work better with people," she said. That's a pretty good explanation in all fairness, but one which is unlikely to change the minds of fans who just couldn't get over what they saw as the sheer ridiculousness of this exchange between the Dark Knight and Man of Steel. What do you think?
