Here's Every Confirmed And Rumored MARVEL And DC COMICS Movie On The Way (And When You'll See Them)
Believe it or not, there are over sixty Marvel and DC Comics movie currently confirmed, rumoured, or in development and here you'll find a breakdown of what those are and when exactly you'll see them...
Now is a very good time to be a comic book fan. While it used to be that we would only get a one or two Marvel and DC Comics adaptations each year, that figure is now closer to ten and is only going to keep rising. After all, there are over sixty movies which are currently confirmed, rumoured, or in various stages of development from both companies. That's a truly insane and unbelievable amount!
The Marvel Cinematic Universe movies come from Marvel Studios, while 20th Century Fox is in charge of the X-Men and Fantastic Four franchises (Disney may have bought Fox but that deal won't be finalised for twelve to eighteen months). Sony Pictures meanwhile is working on countless Spider-Man spinoffs and Warner Bros. is finally putting together a shared/standalone DC Films Universe.
What you'll find here is an in-depth look at every movie which is on the way as well as when exactly they're expected to hit the big screen and what they will entail (based on rumours and officially released details). From untitled releases to those which are coming over the next few years and even movies which are TBA, this is your must-see guide to everything that's coming from Marvel and DC.

Black Panther (February 16th, 2018)
The final Marvel Studios movie before Avengers: Infinity War is released, Black Panther will no doubt go some way in setting that up but will hopefully avoid doing an Iron Man 2 by keeping the spotlight firmly on T'Challa as he embarks on his first solo movie after debuting in Captain America: Civil War.
The New Mutants (April 13th, 2018)
Described as the first superhero horror movie, The New Mutants is definitely intriguing but that first trailer left some fans wondering just how good it will be. With no sign of mutant powers in that teaser, many are worried we're just getting a generic teen horror so here's hoping it rises above that.
Avengers: Infinity War (May 4th, 2018)
Arguably the biggest superhero movie of all-time, Avengers: Infinity War is going to bring together pretty much every character ever introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Earth's Mightiest Heroes finally unite with the Guardians of the Galaxy to stop Thanos from taking over the universe.
Deadpool 2 (June 1st, 2018)
Deadpool was a bigger hit than anyone ever expected and while it remains to be seen if the sequel will replicate that success, the signs are currently pointing to it being a hit. Introducing fan-favourite characters like Domino and Cable, the stage is clearly being set here for that X-Force spinoff.
Ant-Man And The Wasp (July 6th, 2018)
Marvel Studios teased the possibility of Hope Van Dyne suiting up as The Wasp at the end of Ant-Man but this sequel will finally make that happen as she, Scott Lang, and Hank Pym all team up to try and find Janet in the Quantum Realm. It's expected to pick up after Captain America: Civil War.
Teen Titans Go! To The Movies (July 27th, 2018)
The Cartoon Network series has delivered over 200 episodes of Teen Titans Go! in the span of just four seasons and now the success of that has led to a movie getting the green light. This won't be heading straight to DVD as the adventures of Robin, Cyborg, Raven, Beast Boy, and Starfire is coming to theaters.
Venom (October 5th, 2018)
Venom without Spider-Man seems like a horrible idea but Sony is pushing forward with this spinoff that's so far assembled a very impressive cast. Tom Hardy will play Eddie Brock but how exactly the movie is going to address how he became Venom without Spider-Man around is a big question.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix (November 2nd, 2018)
X-Men: Apocalypse was considered a disappointment by most but whether or not inexperienced director Simon Kinberg (who reportedly helmed those awful Fantastic Four reshoots) will do any better remains to be seen. He's promised to make up for past mistakes but time will tell on that front.
Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse (December 14th, 2018)
Despite being less than a year away from swinging into theaters, we’ve seen just a single teaser trailer for this one but it was undeniably impressive. The animation style is unique and it boasts an impressive voice cast so the signs are all pointing to this being one Sony Spidey movie which succeeds.
Aquaman (December 21st, 2018)
Aquaman has assembled an incredible cast and after we got our first taste of Atlantis in Justice League last month, excitement for this movie is no doubt going to increase very quickly. Set to tell the story of Arthur Curry's rise to King of Atlantis, this has the potential to be a truly great adaptation.
Silver & Black (February 8th, 2019)
Silver & Black is going to revolve around Silver Sable and Black Cat, two characters who are very different but might actually work well together on the big screen. Felicia Hardy without Spider-Man doesn't feel right but chances are this could be a lot of fun and a great showcase for these two.
Gambit (February 14th, 2019)
Gambit was supposed to be released over a year ago but it's finally secured the same date that worked so well for Deadpool in 2016. Whether or not it too will go down the R-Rated route remains to be seen but with Mr. Sinister rumoured to be the lead villain, this could be seriously awesome.
Captain Marvel (March 8th, 2019)
Probably one of the most highly anticipated superhero movies on the way right now, Captain Marvel will star Oscar-winner Brie Larson as Carol Danvers and is set to take place in the midst of the Kree/Skrull War during the 1990s. It's thought it will then lead directly into the events of Avengers 4.
Shazam (April 5th, 2019)
Shazam only recently received this release date and while the cast has now started coming together (John Cena was among those rumoured to be in the running for the title role but it went to Zachary Levi), work has begun on this one and it's actually happened. Sadly, Black Adam isn't expected to appear.
Untitled Avengers: Infinity War Sequel (May 3rd, 2019)
Kevin Feige has said that the title of Avengers 4 hasn't been revealed because it would distract fans from Avengers: Infinity War and that's obviously led to an awful lot of speculation. So far, all we really know is that Hawkeye will be suiting up as Ronin and that Josh Brolin is going to return as Thanos.
Untitled Fox Marvel Movie (June 7th, 2019)
One of six mystery Marvel movies recently set for release by Fox, we have no idea what this could be but X-Force seems likely as opposed to another instalment of the Deadpool franchise.
Untitled Spider-Man Homecoming Sequel (July 5th, 2019)
Spider-Man: Homecoming is currently the biggest superhero movie of 2017, something none of us probably would have expected this time last year. It turns out that taking Peter Parker back to high school and giving him a new suit worked but what direction the follow-up will head is unclear.
Untitled DC Comics Movie (November 1st, 2019)
With Suicide Squad 2 set to start shooting next year, this is probably when Warner Bros. is saving that for as the first movie was rushed and it definitely showed when it quickly arrived last August.
Untitled Fox Marvel Movie (November 22nd, 2019)
If rumours of X-Men: Dark Phoenix being split in two are accurate (and they probably aren't), then this is more than likely the release date it will take. Just don't get your hopes up that it will happen!
Wonder Woman 2 (December 13th, 2019)
While this is a little longer than most of us would like to wait to return to the world of Wonder Woman, the fact Patty Jenkins will be at the helm of the sequel makes it worth it! So far, rumours have pointed to it either taking place during the Cold War or present day but nothing has been made official.
Untitled DC Comics Movie (February 14th, 2020)
Warner Bros. is hoping to use Harley Quinn to attract more female moviegoers to theaters and so this date is the perfect place to release The Joker vs. Harley Quinn to achieve that.
Untitled Fox Marvel Movie (March 13th, 2020)
Fox has been so secretive with its plans that this movie could be anything from a Fantastic Four reboot to a New Mutants sequel. It may even be that newly announced Logan follow-up starring X-23.
Cyborg (April 3rd, 2020)
This movie may still have a release date but whether or not it will ever actually happen is another matter altogether. One of those announced when Warner Bros. unveiled its DC Films slate, the chances of it being released more than likely hinge on how the character is received in Justice League.
Untitled Marvel Studios Movie (May 1st, 2020)
Your guess is as good as ours when it comes to what Marvel Studios has planned but it's worth noting that the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise has had some luck in May, so Vol. 3 could be a possibility.
Untitled DC Comics Movie (June 5th, 2020)
Warner Bros. is definitely planning ahead and they have so many movies in the works that pretty much anything could take this spot. Personally, I'd bet on Flashpoint taking this prime summer slot.
Untitled Fox Marvel Movie (June 20th, 2020)
Fox is clearly looking to make a mark by nabbing so many prime release date slots and I can easily imagine something like Deadpool 3 or even the rebooted Fantastic Four landing this date.
Untitled DC Comics Movie (July 24th, 2020)
Another great summer slot, this is when many fans suspected that Wonder Woman 2 could hit theaters. Instead, I'm going to take a stab in the dark by suggesting either The Batman or Man of Steel 2!
Untitled Marvel Studios Movie (August 7th, 2020)
Marvel is going to want to put something good here and with so many Phase 3 released in need of a sequel, Doctor Strange, the Guardians of the Galaxy or even Captain America could take this.
Untitled Fox Marvel Movie (October 2nd, 2020)
Does Fox even know what they're putting here? We sure don't but another instalment of the X-Men franchise is a possibility, as is something as obscure as that Doctor Doom spinoff.
Untitled Marvel Studios Movie (November 6th, 2020)
Marvel Studios knows what's going here but we don't. Phase 4 plans aren't expected to be revealed until after Avengers 4 is released so we're going to have to be patient and just wait and see.
Untitled Fox Marvel Movie (March 5th, 2021)
The latest superhero movie in the release calendar right now, who knows what Fox will put here but they're the only studio with a comic book adaptation staked out for as late as 2021!
Batgirl (TBA)
When Joss Whedon agreed to take the helm of Justice League reshoots for Warner Bros., he also managed to talk the studio into allowing him to direct a Batgirl movie. Whether or not it will tie into the wider DC Films Universe is unknown and the filmmaker has yet to find a lead actress.
The Batman (TBA)
The fate of The Batman remains very much up in the air. While Matt Reeves is set to direct, we keep hearing conflicting reports and whether or not Ben Affleck will play the Dark Knight seemingly still hinges on the success of Justice League. If it does ever happen, it will no longer feature Deathstroke.
Booster Gold (TBA)
It's been a while since we've heard anything about Booster Gold but it's thought that the plan is for DC TV extraordinaire Greg Berlanti to take the helm of a movie which will not be connected to the DC Films Universe in any way. The idea is said to have actually sprung from a scrapped Booster TV show.
Black Adam (TBA)
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has seemingly signed on to play Black Adam and actually convinced Warner Bros. to split Shazam in two; one movie for him and another for the villain. Shazam is coming first but the hope is that Black Adam will follow and that the characters will then finally clash.
Deadpool 3 (TBA)
Josh Brolin has confirmed that Deadpool 3 is one of the movies he's signed up for and unless something goes horribly wrong with the upcoming sequel, you have to believe this will happen. Chances are it will come out after X-Force but Fox is so secretive, we have no idea when it could land!
Deadshot (TBA)
Suicide Squad may have been hated by critics but it did well at the box office and that obviously left Warner Bros. feeling extremely confident with the cast they assembled. As a result, Will Smith's Deadshot is supposed to be getting his own movie but nothing has been set in stone as we write this.
Deathstroke (TBA)
Announced just this week, Gareth Evans (who delivered jaw-dropping action sequences with The Raid and its sequel) has reportedly signed on to write and direct Deathstroke. While Joe Manganiello may have lost out on the chance to star in The Batman, this is set to be a starring vehicle for him.
Doctor Doom (TBA)
At this year's Comic-Con, Legion showrunner Noah Hawley revealed that he's working on a Doctor Doom movie for Fox and that's all we've heard since. A sign that the studio may be looking to finally redeem the character, this will be fun to see play out but will Doom ever meet the Fantastic Four?
Doctor Strange 2 (TBA)
Doctor Strange was a critical and commercial hit when it was released last year and the signs appear to be pointing to the Sorcerer Supreme becoming one of the new faces of the MCU. Despite that, an official sequel announcement hasn't been made but Kevin Feige has said he wants it to happen.
Fantastic Four (TBA)
While most fans would like to imagine the Fantastic Four debuting in the MCU, that's wishful thinking and Fox is now said to be working on a version of the property which will take place from the perspectives of Franklin and Valeria Richards. It's a unique approach but one which might just work.
Flashpoint (TBA)
The Flash movie was supposed to be released next year but chaos behind the scenes delayed it and the movie has now taken on a new form: Flashpoint. How closely it will stick to the source material is unclear but we know Wonder Woman is going to show up so this could be truly epic.
Gotham City Sirens (TBA)
As of right now, we don't actually know whether or not Gotham City Sirens is happening. David Ayer was supposed to direct the movie revolving around Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and Catwoman but he's indicated that he may be done working for big studios and there was no mention of this at Comic-Con.
Green Lantern Corps (TBA)
Man of Steel scribe David Goyer is reportedly working on Green Lantern Corps and rumour has it that the movie will revolve around Hal Jordan and John Stewart. Whether or not it can redeem the franchise at this stage is hard to say but we know Justice League will introduce the idea of the Corps.
Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 (TBA)
James Gunn is already working on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and while it doesn't have a release date as of right now, it's obviously going to be with us at some point in the next two to three years. The plan is for this movie to take the MCU in a new, cosmic direction moving forward.
The Joker (TBA)
The news that a solo movie for The Joker is in the works from the director of The Hangover Trilogy has left everyone baffled, especially as it will take place in the 1980s and is expected to be influenced by Taxi Driver. It has potential but doesn't sound like a faithful take on the villain's past.
The Joker/Harley Quinn (TBA)
While most of their scenes may have ended up on the cutting room floor, the dynamic between The Joker and Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad was definitely interesting and the two of them being pitted against each other in a movie could work really well. Is it all that necessary, though?
Justice League 2 (TBA)
Warner Bros. announced Justice League 2 at the same time as the first movie and the belief was that the sequel would revolve around Darkseid's attack on Earth following Steppenwolf's failure. Now, the chances of it happening clearly depend on whether the first movie is a success or not.
Justice League Dark (TBA)
Justice League Dark has been rumoured as being in the works for years now and it's gone through multiple directors in the process. Warner Bros. is determined to make it happen, though, and so the adventures of characters like Constantine and Swamp-Thing will reach the big screen...one day.
Kraven The Hunter (TBA)
No, we haven't run out of movies and started making things up! Sony Pictures really is developing a Spider-Man spinoff movie revolving around Kraven the Hunter and while his background could lend itself to a solo adventure, it feels wholly unnecessary, especially without the wall-crawler.
Lobo (TBA)
Another of those superhero movies which has been stuck in development hell for years now, Lobo stands a much better chance of finally becoming a reality now that the likes of Deadpool and Logan have found such success. As R-Rated comic book movies go, this must happen.
Man Of Steel 2 (TBA)
Superman is currently dead but that's set to change in Justice League, something which will leave the door wide open to him returning for a solo adventure somewhere down the line. Right now, Kingsman: The Golden Circle helmer Matthew Vaughn is said to be the favourite to direct it.
Mysterio (TBA)
If you thought we were taking the p*ss talking about a Kraven the Hunter movie, then you'll think we've lost our minds mentioning Mysterio! That's right, Sony really is mulling over a spinoff for the stuntman/VFX expert turned supervillain. Why anyone would want to watch this is hard to compute.
Nightwing (TBA)
The LEGO Batman Movie director Chris McKay is set to take charge of Nightwing, a movie which will finally give Dick Grayson the big screen treatment he deserves. Like Batgirl, we have no idea if it will be connected to The Batman in any way, shape, or form but you'd certainly have to hope so.
Power Pack (TBA)
Clearly disappointed that they've lost out on the opportunity to bring the likes of The Runaways, Cloak & Dagger, and the New Warriors to the big screen, Marvel Studios is said to be working on a movie featuring Power Pack. Will it actually happen? For now, we'll have to wait and see.
Suicide Squad 2 (TBA)
David Ayer isn't going to return for the Suicide Squad sequel which is currently set to be helmed by Gavin O'Connor (The Accountant). Despite that, Margot Robbie, Will Smith, and Jared Leto are all expected to come back but why Task Force X assembles a second time has yet to be revealed.
Thor 4 (TBA)
This one is very much a rumour right now but with Thor: Ragnarok expected to be a huge box office hit and receiving a score of 98% on Rotten Tomatoes, you have to believe Marvel won't let this franchise end the same way as Iron Man's. Taika Waititi has also said he'd like to return for Thor 4.
X-23 (TBA)
Another movie announced just recently, an X-23 spinoff is said to be in the works from James Mangold and her comic book creator Craig Kyle. With no Wolverine in the X-Men Universe now, the stage being set for her to take over that role makes sense and will no doubt start with this spinoff.
X-Force (TBA)
After missing out on both Daredevil and Sinister Six, Drew Goddard will finally get the chance to helm a superhero movie in the form of X-Force. While we know that both Deadpool and Cable will appear here, the rest of the team has yet to be confirmed but expect it to retain an R-Rating.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix 2 (TBA)
This one definitely belongs in the "rumour" category but various reports have claimed that Fox is planning on splitting X-Men: Dark Phoenix into two movies. That would certainly give this tale enough room to breathe but could be a little too much responsibility for first-time director Simon Kinberg.
Which of these confirmed and rumoured superhero movies are you most looking forward to? As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below.
