When we met Ben Affleck's Dark Knight in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, he wasn't particularly interested in getting to know his fellow heroes. While he was intrigued by Wonder Woman (who wouldn't be?), he wanted to kill the Man of Steel but after realising that he'd made a horrible mistake, Batman decided to assemble a team of superheroes. How has his outlook changed in Justice League?
"In Batman v Superman, he was at the end of his rope," Affleck explains. "But in Justice League he’s finding hope again. He has to open up and play well with others. He knows he needs them." That sounds like a direction which is well suited to the new tone of the DC Extended Universe and while Batman is known for being dark and brooding, it will be fun seeing how he deals with this status shift.
Asked if the Caped Crusader struggles with fitting in with the likes of Aquaman and Cyborg, he added: "He’s sort of the ultimate loner, but he’s really trying to make it work and develop a good relationship with all of them. He might be a mentor to The Flash." That latter point is particularly interesting as Batman and the Flash working together could lead to some show-stealing scenes.
