Marvel's Kevin Feige Isn't Ruling Out The Possibility Of A female THOR Taking Over From Chris Hemsworth

With Thor: Ragnarok about to hit theatres, Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige was asked about the possibility of seeing a Goddess of Thunder take over once Chris Hemsworth hangs up his hammer. Check it out...

The God of Thunder is poised to blast back into theatres very soon for Thor: Ragnarok, but what happens when Chris Hemsworth decides to walk away from the role?

Of course, there's always the possibility of a new contract being signed - but if Marvel does decide that they need to replace him, could we see a woman take up the mantle of Thor as she does in the comic books?

Kevin Feige was asked this very question during an interview with Movies.com, and it definitely sounds like it is something he would consider:

"We always look back to the comics to get those ideas … sometimes very specific storylines like “Civil War,” sometimes just nuggets or characters like “Planet Hulk. So anything that’s happened in the comics, even a female Thor, become great potentials and the ideas from which future movies can be born.”

Obviously this is far from confirmation that Marvel has even discussed a female Thor, but Feige seems to find the prospect intriguing, at the very least.

In the comics, the new Thor is revealed to be Jane Foster, so if the studio ever was to move forward with this, perhaps it'd be an opening for Natalie Portman to return to the franchise?

We're getting way ahead of ourselves here, but assuming it was on the cards, let us know what you think of the possibility of a female Thor in the usual place.
