RUMOR: George Miller To Produce JUSTICE LEAGUE: PART ONE And 'Mera' Casting Revealed

Recently, it was announced that Justice League: Part One will begin filming in April and that Zack Snyder would be directing the film. Snyder also released an image alongside Jason Momoa (Aquaman), teasing our first look at the Ezra Miller's Flash costume and a look at concept art for Mera. Now, a casting call has been released for the film, which is now in heavy pre-production.

According to the casting call released online for the upcoming DC film Justice League: Part One, which will be using "Caveman" as the working title, Mad Max: Fury Road director George Miller would be joining the film as a producer alongside Charles Roven, Doug Mitchell, Barrie Osborne, Dan Lin, and Deborah Snyder. The Mad Max director was once helming his own Justice League project, Justice League: Mortal, back in 2009, until Warner Bros. decided not to go ahead with the film.

The casting call also reveals information regarding the role of Mera, Aquaman's wife, and who would be playing the Queen of Atlantis. A while back, a rumor hit the web stating that actress Amber Heard had been in talks to take on the role of Mera in Justice League: Part One. Zack Snyder then released the first image of Justice League production with Jason Momoa, confirming that the Queen of Atlantis would make her big screen debut in Justice League through some well-placed concept art. The same casting call that revealed that George Miller would be producing Justice League also revealed that Amber Heard has been cast in the role of Mera.

This all sounds pretty amazing and it doesn't sound too far-fetched as rumors go, but like with every rumor, take this with a grain of salt. It should only be a matter of time until Warner Bros. releases more official news regarding the film. Until then, let us know what you think!

That'd be awesome. But the big question for me is: will Hans and Junkie collab again?

If true, this is great news. I hope Kal'deram will be in the movie too. Seeing him as Aqualad would be great. Plus I'd be fine with Garth showing up as Tempest too.

@BlackIceJoe - I think Stephen James should play Aqualad. A good actor and he looks just like him.

All you need to get a producer credit is someone willing to give you a producer credit. He will likely have 0 influence unfortunately.

I don't understand why they'd make him producer as opposed to having him direct his own film.

@MattBellissimo - You do realize he could produce one film then direct another one down the line, right?

@Steelers4190 - Yes. I am quite consciously aware of that. I just don't see a point of giving him a producer credit on a film that already has a billion producers. Kinda seems like a weird gesture.

I hope the best for the DCEU. Let's see how BvS does.

They could do better than Amber Heard. I like her, but come on...her and Mamoa headlining a film sounds like it should be some revenge b movie. That's mostly the kind of films Heard frequents. Mera is as dynamic a female character as Wonder Woman.

Mamoa is a solid actor, but I think he needs a PHENOMENAL actress to bring out his acting chops; challenge him as an actor. Or at least an actress who rivals him physically in stature or presence. Someone you'd look at and believe the king of the Seven Seas would marry. His equal.

I'd suggest Paula Patton, who will be showing up in Warcraft

Or Alyssa Sutherland of Vikings

The dynamic between Orin and Mera is so deep and interesting.
