sorry but that sounds like an awful script for green lantern..maybe a sequel with 3 lanterns could work but for a first movie it should be a hal jordan origins story only

Well, i haven't heard the interview yet cause i can't at work but with all the contraversy going around, even though i am a Hal Jordan fan, GL is an actuall character that doesn't have to be changed to fit the racial dilema. I think they should just make Green Lantern on the big screen as John Stewart. It would be fair. Or like ION mentionned before on an other post, to have the movie being John Stuart's initiation by Hal Jordan. That would be kinda cool no?

MarkCassidy - 11/25/2008, 11:52 AM
well yeah that could work too, but in the interview thompson says he was going to have the story focus on stewart, jordan AND gardener! i mean cmon, how can there be adequate character developement for 3 heroes in a 2 hr origins movie..it would have been overkill, just like spidey 3 with all the villains only worse!....by the way i loved spidey 3 anyway!
Shaman
Shaman - 11/25/2008, 12:47 PM
Eh..okay. Yeeaaah three's a crowd. I mean, who cares about Guy Gardner? Well unless he becomes the bad guy in the movie...i just don't see the point. Or mabe Hal will become Paralax and kill Guy Gardner and John Stuart will have to take Gardner's ring and give it to Kyle Reynor so that they can take on Hal as the final showdown...no?
Shaman
Shaman - 11/25/2008, 12:50 PM
By the way, i loved spidey 3 too... (school girl giggle). It's basically the same deal as Superman Returns and X3. It's not because it wasn't the best of the three that it's bad.

OK. The GL origins should be just that, an origin, have Abin-Sur crashing on Earth, the ring locating Clark Kent first, but realizing he's not human, moves on to Hal Jordan AND Guy Gardner, but Hal is closest to Abin, so he get's it.
Bring Guy in as backup 1, then boot him out and give him the second yellow ring.
Bring in John Stewart as his true backup, give him a REAL ring closer to the end when he actually takes up the Mantle of GL of 2814.

OK, Just got done listening to that interview. WTF is this guy thinking? Paul Newman? C'mon...
Shaman
Shaman - 11/25/2008, 1:53 PM
What Paul Newman??? TELL ME!!!!!
IonParallax
IonParallax - 11/25/2008, 2:53 PM
Something about Paul Newman being Hal or Abin...I'm not really sure what this guy is talking about, but it doesn't sound very good at all. I could most assuredly put out a better script idea than this jackass...WHO, BTW, somehow gets Kyle confused with Guy, which shows right THERE how NOT into GL he is. You can't mix the 2 up.
Shaman
Shaman - 11/25/2008, 3:06 PM
OMFG!!! They're gonna throw the "S" at it!!!! Typical DC/WB panzy power! Why not get Marlon Brando for the part while we're at it! If they want an older male to play Hal, i wouldn't go older than Harrison Ford... like Sean Connery and Anthony Hopkins is just way too old!!!

In my opinion, and i haven't ever read any of GL comics but i love the character, Guy shouldn't even be mentionned. Hal...great, John...sure, Kyle...okay but not GUY!!! Enough with the stupidity DC, you gotta learn damn it! What, are all the execs born with down syndrome?
Quicksilverfox
Quicksilverfox - 11/25/2008, 4:25 PM
Man, if they throw the 'S' on this one i'm gonna be so mad...not like WB/DC hasn't done crap like this before. At least none of us will be surprised.

John Stewart is my fav GL he looks so much more threatening and majestic than Hal, so it would be nice to have him included in the movie. But not if it's like a
Hal/Guy/John/Kyle origins story...come on! I would rather have an exclusive Hal story that's done well, than one that incorporates all the lanterns and does it badly.

(love using the new 'S' slang, btw! Nice call, CBM!)

You are on a roll of banter Shaman, I am now following your quotes on several sections and wow. You really give it to 'em when you feel don't ya? I dig that.

Even Harrison is too old. They should really go for the "i'm nobody really, but a damn good actor" type for roles such as these, not that I don't like seeing big names in Superhero roles i.e. Hugh Jackman, Michael Clark Duncan, Patrick Stewart, Christian Bale etc etc

BUT, I still believe they should go with a damn good actor, familiar (at least to some extent) with the storyline, and someone who hasn't been hollywood typecast. For all intents and purposes I believe Jason Statham should be the next Daredevil, even though he's bald. If not him, then at least someone, because that guy kicks ass.

Off topics sorry. Anyways, I would like to see Tyrese Gibson (Transformers, Annapolis, 4 Brothers) as John Stewart, but unfortunately for me, He's already announced as Luke Cage. Hmmmm
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 11/25/2008, 4:47 PM
emm not really feeling statham as daredevil, because he IS bald..hes also dreadfull! am i the only person that liked daredevil? i mean it wasnt amazing or anything but i still feel its underated..
gibson would be good. for jordan they should cast outside the box. its so easy to go with a good looking, average actor like chris evans or whoever else is big at the time..id cast someone like viggo mortenson if hes older or clive owen for the younger
IonParallax
IonParallax - 11/25/2008, 5:08 PM
OK Statham as Bullseye? I just despise Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner...Oh yea, Colin Farrell wasn't too hot either. But the movie, without the above mentioned asses, was relatively good, I didn't like the Kingpin as a black guy, but Michael Clark Duncan is Awesome. Viggo if he's older, totally awesome. I couldn't picture the face of Clive, but that is definitely a good choice. Well done.

Yea but Gibson can't be Luke Cage AND John Stewart...Just like Michael Clark Duncan couldn't be Kingpin AND Apocalypse...Even though that would be DOPENESS! Ya really wouldn't be able to tell who it really was either. So maybe he could pull it off.
Shaman
Shaman - 11/26/2008, 8:55 AM
That's right ION!!! I'm EVERYWHERE, and i'm bringin' IT! Meaning i'm at work with nothing better to do during the day! I'm like... Chief Justice... bound to walk the scroched earth... bringing law... to the lawless. Giggle.

DC's deffinitely "down" with the "S" (syndrome that is).

Woah dude, that sucks cause Tyrese would've made the best John Stewart. Well at least he ain't outa the comicbook movies. We need great african american actors(other than Will freakin' Smith for a change) to fill these highly important roles! The actor that played D.L. in Heroes would do a good job as well mabe even Djimon Hounsou. But what i really want is for somebody somewhere high up in the execs to give a second chance to Michael Jay White. I think he'd be the perfect Black Panther but who knows, could be a kick ass John Stewart!

As for Daredevil, I LOVED THE HELL OUT OF IT!!! Then all of a sudden, i get out of the theater and everybody everywhere are labelling it the worst superhero movie of all time like WTF?!?!?! I don't like Ben Afleck but what exactly WAS wrong with his performance? He pulled off the duality of the character nicely not to mention Matt Murdock's daily struggle with the corrupt justice system, his blindness was VERY believable and he pulled off great action scenes! And how about Jon Favreau's performance huh? I mean IMO, having him grace us with his comic relief as Matt's accomplice was WINNING half the battle!!! So what was the problem... Kingpin? I think Fisk's skin color is irrelevant, he's an as important character as Nick Fury meaning that a change in color doesn't affect me profoundly as it would for more important roles. Duncan's performance wasn't half bad i thought. The only thing i didn't like about him was Wilson having a smile too many times on his face. The character i feel is too serious for it. Collin Farrel went a bit over board with Bull's eye but i loved the Irish side he brought with him. The character's personality to me should have been more of a Joker mixed with Loki kinda deal than the fanatic feel Collin gave. Loved the ending scene with the fly though LOL.

As for Jason Statham, he can't pull off the "romantic" side to Matt Murdock as he proved in "in the name of the King" that he completely and utterly sucks in that field. He deffinitally doesn't have the range to pull off Bull's eye's personnality. All Jason is good for is cold emotionless high octane action. And quite frankly, the only character i see him fitting the bill is Hawkeye. Or "mabe"... a broke down Johnny Blaze realising that everyone around him is bound to get hurt so he would pull off the "lone wolf" personality of the new GhostRider movie. Other then that...nope sorry.

One actor i'd LOVE to see lace up some superhero boots is JENSEN ACKLES. I think he'd be absolutely perfect for Captain America but if all else fails, he could be able to pull off the new Daredevil.
IonParallax
IonParallax - 11/26/2008, 11:11 AM
Djimon Honsou I think would make an awesome Black Panther...That an the fact that he is going to VOICE him in the animated feature. So, it only makes sense.
Will Smith could be Falcon...Tee hee. But ok, Statham as Hawkeye, I can dig that.
Shaman
Shaman - 11/26/2008, 12:01 PM
Well.... like i said before, i don't think Hounsou can pull off the "fierceness" of Black Panther on the big screen. An animated series is different. You never know though... i have been fooled before.

And your absolutely RIGHT!!! Will Smith would make a GREAT Falcon but being the over paid star that he is... he'd never settle for a second fiddle like Falcon... unfortunitely. We need more actors like Don Cheadle that understand how even a supporting character can be the ULTIMATE ingredient that makes the movie BETTER than GREAT!
Shaman
Shaman - 11/26/2008, 12:10 PM
Oh and not to mention the fact that IF Will Smith DID agree to be Falcon, being the right hand man of Captain America, it would take the spotlight away from Robert Downey jr. Ironman NEEDS to be the supporting hot shot character in this movie!!!
Shaman
Shaman - 11/26/2008, 1:38 PM
Woah guys!!! The more i re-read this thread (cause i have nothing else to do at work) the more i realise that YOU TWO ARE BANG-ON with picking CLIVE OWEN as the new daredevil!!! In fact, it would be total awesomeness IF Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez would team-up again to bring us a gritty reboot of Daredevil!!! They have worked with Clive on SinCity. It would be Frank's ORIGINAL verison of the character...chaaahhh (jazz hands included)!!!
VenomIsOnMyRibs
VenomIsOnMyRibs - 12/2/2008, 11:06 PM
Yea a really dark Daredevil would be great. The Ben Affleck version was kinda lame although the unrated version was a bit better. I thought Jennifer Garner kinda ruined the movie with her Elektra bit, that could have waited for a later time (if there would have been a sequel to a better movie) Bullseye was eh ok, Colin Farrel was a bit of an over actor and I didnt get what was up with the weird rattle snake sound effects when he'd move around.

Jason Statham would be great for the complexity of DD's fighting, in the comics its so over the top and awsome and Statham pulls that off well. He can do good movies even though he tends to choose the crazy action roles. The Bank Job and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels was pretty cool.

But yea deff FRANK MILLER on DD or hey throw in Kevin Smith too.
