Fearless, I think most ppl refer to a team as "their team" because it's easier then saying "My favorite football team in the NFL".

I don't think joss was talking about Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver for 3 reasons.

1) They are mutants(Fox?)
2) The next movie after Avengers is Ant-man(to many heroes to fast?)
3) He wanted on the first avengers the wasp and he changed the script later.

I think there are more chances than he didn't wanted to give to much and he was talking about Antman and the Wasp.

the shocker kid is just showing his age (or his emotional age i guess, since there are plenty of adults that do the same thing). it's an attempt at strength through association, where you pick a side and when it succeeds at something it serves as validation that you made the right choice. in immature people, the ego boost that validation provides spills over the appropriate "mental boundary" so instead of just making the person feel wise, it also makes him feel powerful, attractive and worthy of praise.

this is especially true in teen males who have an overabundance of testosterone anyway, because these psychological dynamics stimulate that hormone and multiply the urge to boast about it. that behavior is an evolutionary throwback related to the instinct to challenge the dominant male in the troop.

and you're right, fearless... it IS the same as a football riot or any other conflict in which the supporters of either side will actually gain no benefit from their chosen competitor's victory.

when i was a kid, it wasn't uncommon to see guys get into fights over music... things like whether judas priest or iron maiden were better, or if steve vai was a faster guitarist than eddie van halen. ridiculous, but we male humans are not, as a general rule, particularly sophisticated in the emotional arena, and will fight over just about anything.

I have to admit Scarlet Witch in Avengers 2 would be [frick]ing AWESOME!!

I can only imagin how they could use her powers. I have a feeling Avengers II could have a few dif possible endings.
Joss will prob end it by killing Another major character. Then we find out it actually never happened that way. So we go back to how SW changed it up.

@fearless thank u for saying that.. I hate when people act like they work for marvel.. Marvel can care less about u cuz they don't know who u are, just watch their movie and give them your money.. People like shocker post comments like that becuz I guess marvel has more movies coming out and he wants to jump on the bandwagon becuz it makes him feel like a winner!!
Neek2086
Neek2086 - 4/27/2013, 9:29 AM
Shocker probably became a marvel fan after the Avengers.. Bandwagon

Pheezmatic - 4/27/2013, 10:24 AM
Jeez!! so many butthurt DC fans that give away their frustration on here!! Must say some of them make easy targets. While theShocker's comment wasn't the most intelligent and specific, he really did nothing wrong except proclaim his love for his favorite studio that has been on a steamroll since '08.

Im not trying to draw a line in the sand here and take sides because it's getting a bit ridiculous at times, but i think a lot of the anger thats been aimed at some of the "marvelites" or "whedonites" or whatever the ites u call them these days, should be directed at WB. Their the ones that haven't been taking the kind of chances that us "FANS OF COMIC BOOKS" wish they would....cuz i sure as hell would love to see a legit green lantern movie and an awesome JLA movie.

The fact of the matter is tho, Marvel is doing their thing. And there happens to be a lot of people who are more than excited to watch this company do things with their characters that they grew up wishing would happen. I think and hope that WB will get the ball rolling one day...but honestly it won't happen until their balls drop and they get the right people on the right projects.

I don't represent DC.. Im a DC and Marvel fan because I grew up with both go figure.. I just hate when people brag about other peoples accomplishment like they help film the movies.. Ok why we're glad you feel like you're winning. We all are winning dumb folks just dont understand that.

I disagree...i think if someones spends their money on something then they have had a hand in its success. Regardless of how small the contribution is, fact is the fans made marvel what they are along with marvel.
Neek2086
Neek2086 - 4/27/2013, 11:42 AM
^ Ok I'm gonna spend money on Man Of Steel and u wouldn't dare hear me say "Marvel Suck it".. Why would I??
Pheezmatic
Pheezmatic - 4/27/2013, 12:04 PM
For the same reason a yankees fan tells a red sox fan to suck it after they win. These are two historically competitive companies who do basically the same thing just very differently.

Also i think theShocker only said that AFTER he was personally attacked for cheering on marvel. Not to mention, he saw that he struck a nerve.
Pheezmatic
Pheezmatic - 4/27/2013, 12:05 PM
Not saying his second comment was right, cuz it wasn't. Just saying that his first comment wasn't wrong.
Neek2086
Neek2086 - 4/27/2013, 12:47 PM
Ok say we're playin basketball and its 4 against 1 and the team with 4 players brags because they're winning... Marvel Studios just does comic book movies WB does hundreds of different other movies.. DC doesn't have it's on studio.. I'm perfectly fine with them releasing 1 or no movies a year because Marvel has movies constantly coming out.. Just don't see why everybody on here doesn't think like Kevin Feige.... Oh that's right because it makes the people who don't have nothin goin on in their life feel good about something.. But u should want every CBM to succeed otherwise you're not a real fan

would love to see that happen.quicksilver hasn't been properly used in comics for a veeerry long time(as far as i know)and i'd like to see how his speed would be translated to screen. redesigning costumes would be more necessary than ever for both characters though...
ROMsnotdead
ROMsnotdead - 4/27/2013, 2:18 PM
is it a way for marvel to pull the rug under DC's feet ? I mean, would they do a Flash movie afterward ? (just kidding DC fans! :)
AlternateNo4
AlternateNo4 - 4/27/2013, 2:29 PM
my analysis of the shocker was serious, not defensive. i've studied both psychology and evolutionary anthropology, and that's really my impression. but i wasn't suggesting that ONLY marvel fans are like that... it also goes for plenty of DC fans as well as cowboys fans, lakers fans, ac milan fans... oh and there's a tie for the worst of all between yankees fans and ManU fans.

the problem isn't his support for his team, it's when his whole comment shows that he is reveling in the defeat of the "enemy" by ending with "bitches." he can be happy about marvel's success without deliberately setting out to create another stupid chatroom brawl.

and though i'm the one that reported him, i'm neither "butthurt" nor competitive... i paid my money to see the avengers even though marvel characters aren't my favorites, and i thought it was fun even though i doubt it meant as much to me as it did to big time marvel fans. not once did anyone see me gloating when either TDK made its billion, nor am i out here shrieking about how MOS will "own" or "shut up the marvelites." that's just stupid and childish.

there are fans on both sides, but it's not ok to fan the flames.
Pheezmatic
Pheezmatic - 4/27/2013, 4:26 PM
@Neek See my problem with DC/WB is that its not lack of players that plagues them. Its the fact that they have just as much as marvel to offer yet they only decide to go with their sure bets. While u may be fine with them releasing one or none movies a year, I'm NOT! DC owns some of our generations most prolific and heroic mythological characters. The fact that we get yesteryears mythology (i.e. Clash of the Titans, Hercules, etc.) and not this era's heroes complexes me. WB could give Dc their own startup studio if they really wanted to..the problem is they don't 100% believe in them. WE ALL BELIEVE IN THEM, WHY DOESN'T WB!!! Also commenting on others peoples lives that we know nothing about simply off the fact that they're rooting for something we don't agree with is childish in itself.

@Alternate While I absolutely see you're point, i have to ask to understand what u meant. Were u refering to the arrogance of a fan of a winning side? If so, i believe it comes down to two different types. One winner wins all the time. Expects nothing less and usually achieves nothing less. With that winner i agree! its obnoxious. The sense of entitlement can draw resentment from me. But then theres the Underdog winning. When the underdog wins it can be a bit extra glorious. I think if we look at the history of these two companies, we see that Marvel was always the underdog in many ways. I think that has a lot to do with the current attitude of a lot of Marvel fans. There are many who have seen the company over the years and feel that they are finally being appreciated like they were meant to be.

AlternateNo4 - 4/27/2013, 5:03 PM
@Pheezmatic - i see your point as well, and you are absolutely right about the different personalities of the "underdog fan" and the "overdog fan." but a dick is a dick. and whether someone's dickitude comes from a genetic predisposition toward dickness, or it comes from an exuberant, spontaneous and celebratory explosion of dickness, he's still being a dick.

it's not who you are inside, it's what you DO that defines you ;)
AlternateNo4
AlternateNo4 - 4/27/2013, 5:06 PM
@trudy - thanks for the compliment. you're right about the eloquence, but you know you can't lump me into that other category. i'm just as pissed as anyone about shit like wonder woman, smallville and (shudder) green lantern. just because i WANT good dc films doesn't mean i'm one of these delusional people that thinks WB is really competitive in the cbm genre.

the point is, marvel's found an overall look and tone that's sucessful for their brand, and they've got the brains to stick with it. on the other hand, WB saw batman make a billion dollars and then COMPLETELY changed the formula for GL. simply moronic. people keep saying not to make "gritty" movies for superman, ww, gl, etc... but if that's what's working, why not?

so yes, i'm a dc fan, but i'm quite aware of the fact that marvel's got a good groove going and dc has not. no butthurt, no worries. hopefully man of steel will get them going again, but if not, not. it ain't money in MY pocket.

and for the record, i'm not a nolanite, either. while i DO like chris nolan, i think his batman movies are his weakest work lol. but then, i'm not much of a batman fan anyway... i like nobler characters.

yo joemomma...just u wait. come summer 2015, EVERYONE will stay CLEAR off The Avengers 2 week, maybe even month.

as for thor 2 being released in the fall, i'd say, marvel's just being smart nad going for a time with lesser competition to get BIGGER box office. and after the first thor and cap movies, they need to make sure that both solo franchises CAN and will match (or, at least, approach) their Iron Man's numbers.
