Story

I thought the story was pretty close to the comics but added a lot of new elements to it. I was never bored while watching the movie, it moved at a steady pace. Dwayne McDuffie did a fantastic job of adapting this plot into a movie, much like Crisis On Two Earths the Justice League is put in a tight spot and have to deal with some very tough challenges, the writing and dialog was also spot on. I did feel at times they overused the profanity, but with these DC animated movies they always try and push the bar with the language and violence, so it’s to be expected at this point. Overall it’s a story that works and feels memorable and makes you think about things like friendship, trust and many other things that comes with being a team.

I also thought the villains were threatening and not just some plot devices that feel useless and uninspired. The villains in here are cruel conniving and willing do whatever it takes to take out the league members. Villains should be memorable and make you interested in their cause, this movie does that on many levels.

Voice Acting

The voice acting was very nostalgic, with guys like Kevin Conroy and Tim Daly reprising there roles as Batman and Superman it was just a joy to listen to. All the voices are good, but I had a few gripes with some characters, for instance they chose to go with Barry Allen instead of Wally West as the Flash which is fine, but Barry sounds like Wally West from Justice League unlimited, I think they should have chosen someone else for him, I also thought Bane sounded good but it was little off for my taste. Overall the voices will feel familiar and fresh at the same time.

Animation and Character Designs

The animation in this movie is really good, every time the animators on these movies step there game up and Justice League Doom is no different. The animation has this very classic feel to it but it also looks very modern and sleek, my only problem with animation was the use of CGI in some scenes, the animators use CGI on all these DC Animated films and honestly I don’t think it’s needed. For the most part the CGI is used for like cars and buildings, but still it’s a distraction at least for me it is.

The character designs are very cool, they redesigned some characters manly the villains like Metallo and Bane, but it works for this setting. Nothing about the designs or redesigns bothered me or was bad in my opinion. Overall it’s a sight for sore eyes; I’d say get it on Blu-Ray for sure.

Sound/Music Scores.

The sound effects are awesome; when the action is going on you can almost feel the pain, grunts and everything else the movie. The music they choose for this was good, when it need to sound heroic it sounded heroic when it needed to sound tense and aggressive it was just that. I also loved the opening montage, which was something Batman Year One didn’t have and wish it had one like the rest of the movies do.

Final Score and Verdict

Justice League Doom gets a solid 8 out 10 for me, it was a fun ride and didn’t disappoint. I also want to take this time and say R.I.P to Dwayne Mcduffie, this was his last work before he passed away and he left us with a lot of great characters and stories you will be missed Dwayne.
