Warner Bros. Rumored To Be Developing A JUSTICE LEAGUE: REBIRTH Project

A new rumor doing the rounds claims that Warner Bros. is planning a soft reboot of Justice League which won't be directly tied to the "Snyder Cut" of the last movie that's set to premiere on HBO Max...

The news that Zack Snyder's Justice League is coming to HBO Max next year has led to a lot of speculation and rumors relating to Warner Bros.' plans for the DC Comics super-team, and this latest one clams that the studio is in the process of developing a Justice League: Rebirth movie.

As the title suggests, this would serve as a soft reboot of Snyder's film, and while it might well feature some of the same characters (Aquaman, Wonder Woman, etc), it's not expected top continue that particular story. The project is said to be in the very early stages, with no writer or director attached.

Like any rumor, it's best to take this with a pinch of salt - although it might be wise to be even more cautious that usual here. The source has had some stories pan out in the past, but it's worth pointing out that notorious bullshit merchants We Got This Covered ran the exact same "scoop" four days ago.

Of course, it's highly probably that WB is planning some sort of Justice League reboot, but because this report contains no other details whatsoever, it's difficult to give this credence.

What do you guys think? Drop us a comment in the usual place.

The next JL movie really is gonna be a soft reboot, Flashpoint or not. Gonna be awkward if Zack is leaving in all the future teases in his cut.

@WakandanQueen - Too years for Fury Road to finally be made, like there are photos of vehicles for that movie from LONG before the movie actually started filming, so could be a while

@dracula - Faora was a character from man of steel, she's talking about her since this is a DC thread. You're talking about Furiosa, a Mad Max character.

Doubt it, but assuming it happens, id say its safe to say that they would include Shazam

@dracula - Shazam was probably my favourite DC live action (some I just didn’t want to watch) and currently my most preferred to get a sequel.

dracula - 7/6/2020, 3:17 PM
@ChangAlang - personal favorite is Wonder Woman, then Shazam then Aquaman

Well if we're talking about a real soft-reboot rebirth...

@Superspecialawesomeguy - Don't get why they don't just start fresh with Battinson. Now we're gonna have to deal with Ezra's Flash. Ugh.

@Superspecialawesomeguy - Honestly, I'm not sure we'll see Patterson in crossover films for a while.

Everyone is expecting the film to have a distinct comic-book feel. But it looks pretty grounded to me. Nothing we've seen so far has been extremely comic accurate. Seems more like a Nolan-esque adaptation than the "definitive" Batman film people are wishing for.

@Nightwing1015 - I mean we won't know for sure until we see some footage, but yeah it is looking like it's going to be more grounded, which tbh is a bit annoying seeing as how we've already gotten that with Nolan, plus we had only just started to see more comic accurate takes recently with Batfleck (only in terms of visuals mind you but still).

@tmp3 - I'm actually hoping somewhat that they use flashpoint to kick off some kind soft-reboot for the dceu and reboot everyone except aquaman and wonder woman.

@tmp3 - I honestly don't get why WB is keeping Ezra Miller on-board, because he hasn't played Flash in years and wasn't welcomed like Henry Cavill was as Superman.

Yet WB has no plans with him for another Superman movie, but they do with Ezra's version of Flash.

Plus if I'm not mistaken Ezra Miller's contract ends at the end of 2020, so just use that as a way to replace him, with someone else.

tmp3 - 7/6/2020, 5:37 PM
@BlackIceJoe - Their contract was meant to end in 2019, guess they must have renewed it. I have no idea what WB sees in Ezra, they're treating them like their some A-list, DiCaprio-tier actor or something

BlackIceJoe - 7/6/2020, 6:54 PM
@tmp3 - You're probably right about it being 2019, instead of 2020, I've been locked up in the house, for many months because of the Coronavirus that I can't remember when it was.

Also I don't mean because I have the virus, just more that I haven't left the house in months, other than to get food and even than straight in and out.

The thing about Ezra his personality never struck me as anything like Barry, than I watched him play Barry and was proven right.

Ezra works better at playing characters on suicide watch and that just isn't Flash at all.

At this point, I'd much rather get that proper JLU reunion film that people have been talking about for the last few years.

JL vs the Fatal 5 was a start. But let's get the whole cast back.

But seriously, what even is this "rumour"? There might be a new Justice League film at some point down the line? Yeah, duh.

I love DC and have overall enjoyed most of the DCEU. But jesus why can't they get their act together and make a proper sequel with the cast back. It really pisses me off. I
Give us a Man of Steel 2. But chances are we are going to get 5 Harley Quinn movies before that.

Personally I think DC should embrace its multi-verse and start each movie with a simple title card that reads “Earth 1” or “Earth 78” may need another bit of text that reads like “There is a multi-verse, some things are the same, some are different these are the stories from the many worlds of the DC Universe”

Basically so can keep Joker type movies with independent style, lower budgets separate, while also keeping a main universe.

The audience is understands a shared movie-verse now this can just be a next step.

Hopefully the next Justice League movie has Martian Manhunter and Green Lantern as main characters.

I also want to see Captain Shazam being a member of the Justice League too.

Best part of this article was the part that calls WeGotThisCovered 'notorious bullshit merchants'.

It's sad how bungled this cinematic universe is. WB really has no idea how to fix it at this point.

This rumor sounds like BS to me (at least at this point in time). BUT, if it where to happen, probably after something like Flashpoint, what would the rooster look like?

- Batman (Michael Keaton back as older Bruce? or are they going with Pattinson, or someone else entirely?)
- Superman (Cavill? We all know he wants to continue playing him for years to come)
- Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot. She and Momoa are probably the only ones who are 100% certainly returning)
- Aquaman (Jason Momoa. His sequel is already in the works and he and WW where huge succeses)
- Cyborg (Ray Fisher? Does he still have a place in all of this moving forward?)
- Flash (Ezra Miller? I really didn't like him in JL and if he keeps the role for Flashpoint, then he's probably back for future movies as well)
- Shazam (Levi will be back in the role for his sequel, and it would be nice if he eventually does join the League)

that still leaves us with Green Lantern (John Stewart or Hal Jordan, who knows) and Martian Manhunter (I don't think they will reuse the actor that is supposedly playing him in the Snyder Cut).

Sounds like a missmash of characters, actors and ideas from the established universe and a new direction. Even if they where to pull it off, DC film-department is still a gigantic mess, and I really don't know if the general audience is going to keep up with all of these weird choices and coming and going of actors, etc.
