True Blood alum Joe Manganiello made his debut as Deathstroke in the post-credits scene of Justice League when it was released in theaters in 2017, and was finally given the chance to reprise the role for the "Snyder Cut" of the movie's divisive epilogue sequence.
It was only a very brief appearance, but we know there were big plans for Slade Wilson in the DCEU at one point (he was going to be the main villain of Ben Affleck's version of The Batman), and Manganiello is clearly eager to play the character again.
The actor has already shown his support for the #RestoreTheSnyderVerse movement, and has now taken to Twitter to share a new look at his "Knightmare" take on Wilson along with the hashtag #DeathstrokeHBOMax.
There's been speculation that he might be teasing an already in-development show, but it seems more likely that he's simply trying to drum up some support on social media. Either way, it'd be a shame if Manganiello was never given the opportunity to really sink his teeth into this role.
In Zack Snyder's Justice League, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes.
Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.
