Phase 5 Rumors Reveals New Details About DEADPOOL 3, THUNDERBOLTS, And Jonathan Majors' MCU Future

Some big new rumours about Marvel Studios' Phase 5 plans have been revealed, and as well as intel on Deadpool 3, Thunderbolts, and Wonder Man, there's more Victoria Alonso and Jonathan Majors gossip...

Jeff Sneider is making a habit out of sharing big MCU rumours on The Hot Mic podcast each week, and while many of them reiterate details previously leaked on the now-inactive r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers/ page, there was quite a lot to delve into in the latest instalment of the podcast.

We've already told you about Captain America: New World Order, but how about we kick things off with some new Thunderbolts intel?

The screenplay's first draft - written by Black Widow scribe Eric Pearson - was supposedly scrapped because it focused too much on characters from that 2021 release. Sneider also claims that The Walking Dead alum Steven Yeun is "100%" playing The Sentry in the movie.

As for Deadpool 3, it's believed that Succession star Matthew Macfadyen has been tapped to play a TVA agent. Josh Brolin's Cable and Zazie Beetz's Domino are both also expected to return.

There's some streaming news too because Wonder Man will reportedly see Ed Harris (Westworld) play an "agent and possible villain," likely Neal Saroyan from the comic books. This was a role we thought Better Call Saul star Bob Odenkirk had landed, so who knows what, if anything, has changed there.

Now, Jonathan Majors. The Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania star released texts yesterday that were meant to go some way in exonerating him, but arguably made the situation sound even worse.

Sneider believes Marvel Studios has met with the actor's agents, but haven't made any decisions yet. As well as appearing in Loki season 2, Majors was being eyed to star in Moon Knight's second season as well.

There are some interesting Victoria Alonso claims as well, including her poor treatment of VFX artists, clashes with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, and the fact that her work on Argentina 1985 was not really the main reason for her firing.

The plot thickens...

Cables getting sidelines for wolverine which is a shame. Doubt Brolin would want to do more after this even if there wasn’t a reboot.

While I think this whole cast is great, I really want a fresh start with xmen. I don’t want domino, colossus etc to be from another multiverse.

@MisterMiracle23 - Couldn't agree more. And I don't think they will. To me this, and any future Fox-Men appearances sounds like a fairwell to that universe. They will be multiverse hopping to some extent in this movie, so I doubt any of these characters will be the actual main MCU versions moving forward.

Especially not Jackman or Brolin. They are too old to expect to play these roles for 10-20 more years. With Wolverine they will need someone younger because I can't see Wolverine getting killed off at any point in the MCU. So he will be around for a loooooooooong time.

Colossus was great in the DP movies, but he's too silly for anything outside of a movie focused heavily on comedy.

Domino? I could see them keeping Zazie Beats to play Domino moving forward. But as a different variant. I don't think any of the Fox variants will stick around in the MCU. Again, aside from Deadpool

@CorndogBurglar - oh yeah jackman and Brolin are definitely done long term. I thought Brolin might stay around for another but not now.

I’d happily keep Zazie, but as you say, make her the 616 version. Colossus works in DP but not what I would want for the new version.

@CorndogBurglar - The Fox-Verse characters could show up more times leading up to Secret Wars, but no way they stick (except Deadpool) after that.

@MisterMiracle23 - Logan is supposed to afe very slowly so Jackman not having that benefit would look to d for the part in addition to probably not wanting to keep training for the role.

@MisterMiracle23 - they gotta go with a full reboot for the Xmen after Secret Wars but I dont expect the best from this franchise.

@Mrnorth1921 - Who knows he can be as good as James Mcavoy from Split. He's a great actor.

Is there actually any credibility to this guy? I've seen many bits coming from him (and that podcast) being shared, but so far as I can recall none have been confirmed

@bkmeijer1 - not really. He’s been pushed out of respectable journalism because he’s not a very good person. Now he’s trying to take on everyone but he’s basically just living off unconfirmed marvel scoops. He’s low key the funniest person to follow on twitter because he acts like a 15 year old who just wants respect but everyone thinks is an idiot.

@bkmeijer1 - Yeah he's legit. He's a well known journalist/reporter who worked for well known outlets like Variety, The Wrap, Collider, etc. and published some legit scoops. He's the one who leaked Harrison Fords casting in the MCU months ahead of an official announcement. He's leaked many others that were legit too but can't recall. But the shit he says on podcast are mostly rumors. Only the things he publishes have a legit source, other times its just hearsay unless the podcasters pay him a huge premium for the exclusive scoop.

He doesn't only do comic book movie news, he does movie news in general. Has a douchebag personality but he's legit.
