Jay Chandrasekhar is best known for his comedy troupe-turned production company, Broken Lizard. They have a few hits some of you may know, such as
Super Troopers,
Club Dread and
Beerfest. Chandrasekhar, who is no stranger to being behind a camera, has revealed in a new interview that Marvel Studios has actually reached out to him about helming a potential future project. He doesn't specify whether or not this would be a film or TV project, but one thing is for sure, the heads at Marvel are impressed with Chandresakhar and his Broken Lizard team as a result of their success crowdfunding and releasing the anticipated
Super Troopers 2 this past April. Here's what he said:
"They sent me the Marvel Encyclopedia and they said, what do you guys want to do? So, it’s upstairs. My kid’s going through it. And he’s going to make a list of what he thinks we should do, and I’ll go through it. I’m curious to see what a 13-year-old’s mind comes up with. It arrived a few days ago. We just had a general meeting. I’m sure I’m not the only one.”
The real question is, would Chandrasekhar (and potentially Broken Lizard) be involved on the TV or the film side? Since he has actually directed a few episodes of
Community,
New Girl, Chuck, and
Psych, along with plenty of films, it's anyone's guess as to what the folks at Marvel have in mind for a potential project. The fact that he has a history with the Russos, who directed and produced a number of
Community episodes, could give him a leg up on the competition for potential MCU projects.
Would you like Chandrasekhar to helm a Marvel film or TV show? Which one do you think suits the Broken Lizard-style comedy we've seen in their past efforts?
