THE IRON CLAW Star Zac Efron Rumored To Be In Talks With Marvel Studios For A Mystery Role

After receiving widespread acclaim for his role in The Iron Claw, rumour has it Zac Efron is now in discussions with Marvel Studios to take on a mystery role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Check it out!

Zac Efron may have risen to prominence after starring in the High School Musical trilogy, but he's since reinvented himself in a big way.

Shedding the "frat boy" persona movies like Neighbors and Dirty Grandpa later labelled him with, the actor has shown a darker, far more serious side in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile and The Iron Claw. Now, all eyes are on what Efron does next.

If a new rumour shared by @MyTimeToShineH is to be believed, then it could be a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

We don't have any news on who he'll play, though there are plenty of possibilities. Recently, there have been rumours about Marvel Studios finally moving forward with a Nova TV series, and while the focus is expected to be on Sam Alexander, Efron would arguably make a perfect Richard Rider.

Efron is only thought to have had discussions with Marvel Studios at this stage and it's no secret that Kevin Feige often takes general meetings with actors; after The Iron Claw, he's bound to be in high demand.

During a 2022 appearance on The Tonight Show, Efron was asked about the rumours he was being eyed to take over the role of Wolverine from Hugh Jackman (who has since signed up to reprise his most iconic role in this summer's Deadpool & Wolverine).

"Really? Wow, they could just call me," he said in response to learning Marvel Studios had been on the hunt for a "type" like him. As for those Wolverine claims, he added, "I think Hugh's still doing that pretty well. I got to give it to him."

When Fallon pointed out that Efron could ask for Jackman's blessing after they shared the screen in The Greatest Showman, he responded, "Yeah, I guess I had my foot in the door on that one. I should go talk to him."

That same year, Efron shared his enthusiasm for the MCU and made it clear he's a fan. "I love the Marvel universe. I've been a fan of Marvel since I started walking," he enthused. "If the right character comes along, and they want me to jump in, I would jump at the opportunity."

Only time will tell whether this rumour pans out, but Efron got into superhero shape for The Iron Claw and could quite easily make his mark on the franchise moving forward.

Who would you like to see the actor play in the MCU? Let us know in the comments section.

This rumour has been churning around for years. I think he would consider a role similar to what Chris Pine did in WW.

Would have been a killer Johnny when he was younger. Now that he's past this typecast, not sure. He's welcome either way.

@DrReedRichards - he would have been a good Johnny Storm

I think he could be a good Cyclops or Angel too if they go older.

At some point in the not too distant future, every single working actor in Hollywood would have committed to a marvel or dc project. Most actors would have been in one comicbook movie at some point in their careers. I think keanu, al Pacino, Zack, Daniel day Lewis, Jean Reno, Danny glover, Denzel Washington, I think mark Whalberg 🧐 Orlando Bloom and obviously a few others are the only ones yet to star in a superhero movie. Literally 75% of Hollywood artists have starred in at least one comicbook movie.

Considering where the superhero genre was 24 years ago when the original Xmen movie was released, that’s an incredible feat. During that time starring in such a distinct genre was frowned upon, nowadays it’s in their best interests to commit to the genre in order to remain relevant or even revive their careers.

@TheMetaMan - Keanu played Constantine and also voiced Batman in the SuperPets movie

Would’ve made a great Cyclops

Honestly , I could have seen him as Simon Williams/Wonder Man or Adam Warlock if those roles weren’t already taken…

I could MAYBE see him as Logan (though I’m not sold on it myself) but I think he would make a better Bobby Drake/Iceman if they go older.

Perhaps Eddie Brock (though I doubt we get him so soon in the MCU after Hardy’s version)?.

I don't see how you'd cast this jacked, 5'7 actor as anyone else BUT Wolverine.
TheVisionary25

@comicfan100 - I think he’s too much of a “pretty boy”

I think you need someone more grizzled for the role but maybe he could pull it off

@comicfan100 - if Zac can learn to gruff up his voice, I would be very on board with him being Logan. Especially with how he's been looking lately, he'd potentially be pretty great in the role.

I still don’t really or entirely see it but if he’s cast then I would certainly give him a shot.

My pick is still Wes Chatham

As of now , there are 2 choices for me

He's only 36 which is right around the age Jackman was for Wolverine.

I feel like he's too big for cyclops, but that's a good choice also.

I personally think he'd make a great Dr. Doom.
