DARK PHOENIX Star Alexandra Shipp Believes That Storm Doesn't Need Black Panther

Most of you may know that Ororo and T'Challa have a relationship in the comics. In fact, they have been married. However, X-Men: Dark Phoenix star Alexandra Shipp isn't quite along for the ride with them.

It's going to be a long time before we even get a sniff of the X-Men in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Even so, some fans have wondered if we'll might get to see Storm and Black Panther couple-up on the big screen one day like they do in the comics.

Well, Dark Phoenix actress Alexandra Shipp has something to say about that.

From WonderCon:

"No! No, I don’t think Storm needs T’Challa, and I think she needs her own movie! It doesn’t have to be me, it just needs to be made. A woman does not need a man in order to give her validity and she has also been around longer than him.”

Whether Marvel actually has plans to bring Storm into the Black Panther franchise at some point obviously remains to be seen, but there's no reason to think it's beyond the realm of possibility.

Shipp also shared her thoughts on the X-Men characters jumping onto the MCU ship.

“I would and I wouldn’t (like it), because Storm barely has anything to say as it is. I don’t know about you all (other actors) but like we never talk. So it would be really nice if we weren’t piled into yet another jam packed cast, in which you only see me in the back of the shot like f***ing sasquatch.”

Again, we have some time to go before Marvel even touches the X-Men, let alone focuses on a solo Storm project. However, we will get to see Shipp in action once more as the character when Dark Phoenix hits theaters June 7th. Are you excited for it? Or are you just waiting for that universe to be over with? Leave your thoughts down below.

@Reeds2Much - I think she's talking about the movies. I also don't think she cares about the comics. She seems pretty fixated on getting her- sorry, Storm's own movie...

BTW, where's my Squirrel Girl movie Marvel?
