This year's BAFTAs (British Academy Film Awards) were held in person last night for the first time since the start of the pandemic, and it was an exciting night for movie fans. Unfortunately, superhero projects didn't get much love (remember, Spider-Man: No Way Home was deemed ineligible because Sony Pictures didn't send screeners out to voters), but Dune certainly did.

It didn't pick up any awards in the "major" categories, but was still recognised for other achievements.

No Time to Die and Captain Marvel star Lashana Lynch picked up the "EE Rising Star" award, which seems fitting considering her star is, well, clearly on the rise. We're anticipating seeing the actress next in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as a Maria Rambeau Variant.

In related awards show news, the Critics Choice Awards also took place this weekend and Marvel Studios' What If...? won "Best Animated Series." Later, Head Writer A.C. Bradley would take to social media to confirm that the show will return to Disney+ for its second season in 2022.

Wonder how long before they announce the next Bond.

Since we are probably going to get a reboot, would be cool to see a series set during world war 2

I'm just gonna say it: I don't get why Power of the Dog was so special.

That said, good for Lashana. I like her in the stuff I've seen her in so far, and kinda hope to see her as a Captain Marvel variant in Multiverse of Madness.
