Well this sucks. It has been reported that the long awaited 50 Shades of Grey adaptation will be arriving on August 1st of 2014 along with Guardians of the Galaxy. So how will this rivalry turn out? Well, considering the hype on the books, I'd say this would be similar to what Marvel will be experiencing later this fall with The Hunger Games: Catching Fire stealing a lot of Thor: The Dark World's box office earnings. or ppl who love the book/books...but i cud give a shitless about this
marvel will still kick ass!! and kick this movies ass..this movie will clearly suck it will only be good for the sex if there is any!
but besides the point this movie WILL SUCK!
i havent read the book cuz im a MAN and got more important things to do than read a damn book about sex why read book about sex when u can have sex lol
anyway this movie will suck..the only reason why it will do well is for the females..

Would I rather go into a theater, watching a new sci-fi movie that goes way over and beyond my head or catch a really bad scripted movie where the focus of the film is suppose to have middle-aged, sex-starved wives clutching their clits?

Maybe it's the fact I'm growing up or the obvious notion I'm a big ass nerd, but I'd rather watch GOTG...

Completely different audiences for each movie. Add in the fact that 50 shades of shit will be rated a hard R which limits those who can see it. Also 50 shades is a female oriented movie and the crowds for Marvel movies are typically younger guys.


GOTG will be fine.

This is going to be quite a smackdown. Hard to predict who will come out on top. GOTG has the Avengers success behind it but 50 Shades of Grey (Awful book by the way. How is this crap popular?) has the Twilight crowd which is pretty damn big. Can't wait to see who comes out on top.

This book has a huge fan base. Young and old women. Black and white. My girl has read them all in the series.







I don't see it hurting it too bad but those tickets sells of girls who accompany their guys to action/comic book movies could be cut. I can't say if it'll make a noticeable dent.

Yeah, 50 Shades does seem to be trending, and honestly, I don't think a lot of the general audience is gonna see Guardians..

I mean, I'm all for it, but the average joe and girl are gonna see this and see a tree in a raccoon.


That being said if the trailer and tv spots for Guardians are done right, along with other marketing, they could win a lot of people over, besides fans.
