So you wanna be a fanboy, huh? Well, you my friend have come to the right place. In a matter of just a few days, you can go from dud to stud armed with a plethora of mind-boggling information to impress and amaze your friends, family and co-workers! You will proudly wear the title of 'Fanboy' much to the awe and adoration of the general public! Think of all the people you can impress! Think of how adept you'll be when conversing with fellow Fanboys! And think of ALL the chicks you'll get!

So, you're thinking to yourself, "What do I do?!" Well friend, it's not that hard! In order to acquire and master this honored status, you'll need to satisfy a few preliminary requirements.

First, watch EVERY 'STAR WARS' ever made.(Yes, that unfortunately includes 1,2 &3)

Secondly, you MUST memorize at least two comic book character's COMPLETE HISTORY! No short-cuts, no summary time lines and definitely NO single story arch dissertation. You've got to acquire a thorough knowledge of the books...NO EXCUSES!

Thirdly, you must be a sci-fi fan. If you don't like, or "kinda like" the genre, you're not worthy of the title "Fanboy". But if you're on board with this requirement, there are MANY sci-fi sources to become proficient in. Some suggestions would be:
1) TV sci-fi-( Star Trek, Battlestar Galaxtica, Babylon 5, The Twilight Zone Supernatural and FRINGE to name a few.
2) Movies- Take your pick! There are alot!
3) Books- Dune, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, War of the Worlds , The Time Machine, Jurassic Park and the Harry Potter series are some suggestions.

But film sci-fi knowlegde would get the best reception!

Fanboy's love video games! Yes they do! Which means you're going to have to invest in , oh I don't know, maybe ... A COUPLE WEEKS ,playing AND beating any number of games that generally have to do with the themes of zombie killing, treasure hunting, role playing, dungeon creeping, and villain defeating, (although fanboys enjoy most genre's of gaming).

Some suggestions would be:
1) Uncharterd
2) Mortal Kombat
3) Resident Evil
4) Any fighting game with comic book character's featured.
5) Most RPG's like Elder Scrolls, Baldar's Gate and Dragon Age.

Well, we ARE making progress! You're almost at the finish line!

If you have ANY serious interest in becoming a full-fledged Fanboy, you MUST be a movie buff! I know, I know...sounds daunting doesn't it! Well don't despair because this is were you can fake it!

There are zillions of films , so just simply select a favorite director or actor/actress and memorize just about ANYTHING they where involved in, because I assure you, someone IS going to put you to the test.

Next, you're expected to immensely enjoy animation...primarily TV animation.
We're talking 'Looney Tunes' , 'Hanna Barbera' , 'Disney', Saturday morning stuff and now Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and various direct -to- video animated movies featuring comic book heros!

So fire up that DVD and hit 'Hulu' because you have ALOT of homework to do!

Finally, the most IMPORTANT quality of a Fanboy which you simply MUST have is an massive willingness to obtusively impose you opinion upon others- whether you're right OR wrong.
It simply is essential.

Well , there you go ! Do these things and you're on your way to becoming part of a vast and contemporary phenomenon exclusively privy to us...
the 'Fanboy'!

Good Luck! (you'll need it!)

@marvel72- I've read a few classic sci-fi's like 'The Time Machine' , which was really good, but like you, I just enjoy reading comics much more now. I've never read any of Tolkien's stuff, but I'm sure it wouldn't be a waste of time. Although many people whom I've talked to who have said the movies ( including the 'Hobbit' animated movie) did them justice.
I'm a fanboy , and don't have a problem with the title, but this article was just me being a little factious.
