Peter Farrely is saying that although nobody has been officially signed on to star in the film, that Benicio del Toro is still the top choice to play Moe, he also gave a little insight into the audition process.
Here's what he had to say:
“Benicio is the front runner for Moe, but we’ve not made a deal with him yet. Our feeling is that it just can’t be your take on Moe. It’s gotta be Moe. Someone could nail Curly’s mannerisms, but if you’re 130 pounds it probably wouldn’t work.”
The word is that the reason casting has been delayed is because a few actors think they shouldn't have to audition for the role because of their A-lister status.
He also gave us a little insight into the film itself.
“It’s not a biopic. We want to give a matinee feel to it. But none of the studios had any interest in it at the beginning. There was a lot to prove. We even had to show that in the script, despite all the hitting the Stooges were known for, it could be a PG movie.”
Seems like we've had an awful lot of rumors as far as casting goes, some of the actors we've heard attached to this film have been Johnny Knoxville, Andy Samberg, comedian Shane Jacobson. The original line up that we heard about was Benicio del Toro, Sean Penn and Jim Carrey.
As we all know, Penn and Carrey dropped out of the film for different reasons.
I think given everything that's happened in the past with this film, we should take any news with a grain of salt.
'Nuff said!
