As you probably guessed from the teaser, I am looking for an artist. Not just any artist though, I need a comic book artist!
If you didn't know already, and I'm not in any way the herald, but SuperHeroStuff was doing a promotion for fanfics on their Facebook page. They were/are presenting fanmade comics and scripts. That's what gave me this idea: I want to make my own comic. The only problem is that I am only half of the team that it takes. I'm the writer.
Here is the problem in a different form:
Writer + X = Comic
X = Artist(s)
Writer + Artist(s) = Comic
I figured that since CBM is a website full of comic book lovers, I would be bound to find an artist here. Sadly, I cannot let you know what my story is in this article. That would be counterproductive, because my story could get stolen. However, I will pose this little contest to you all.
You may be asking yourself,
But I have the answer! Here's what we are going to do.
Use the 'Contact' button above to contact me via email, or post your work in the comments section. If I feel that your work isn't legitimate or real then I will ignore you.
What i'm looking for to determine if I can use you will be determined by one of these choices you have to choose from. All of them can be drawn in any way, shape, or form. I don't care if you sketch it on a napkin, but it has to be representative of YOUR style. Again, i'm looking for somebody who can match their art with a story. I'm also looking for somebody who is physically able to create with me a full comic book, if only a single volume of a story.
Your choices are:
1) Your depiction of Captain Picard from Star Trek: TNG, in any pose or scenery
2) Something scary, or what would scare you (i.e. Boogeyman, graveyard, Grim Reaper, Gary Busey, Betty White naked on a cold day)
3) Your absolute best rendition of a famous movie monster. This can be a Predator, Xenomorph, Jason Voorhees, anything.
4) If you are somehow unable or unwilling to draw the previous things, do something that is equally great. I will be slightly disappointed, though I will be happy to see you put your best foot forward.
Disclaimers:
1) No, it's not a Star Trek fanfic. It's not a fanfic at all. It's an original work.
2) This is a nonprofit venture. If our completed work becomes something bigger, we will just have to see what happens.
3) I'm not looking to create a 'Watchmen' sized graphic novel....yet. I just want to see what we CAN do, and then we might move on. The project might blossom. Who knows, maybe a company will pay us to publish it :)
Well, let the creativity flow! I will run this contest as long as I can remember to keep checking the article and entries keep coming in. I will post an article when I find my artist too.
