TAKE ON ZOD

First things first, I just want to express my disappointment on choosing Zod as the Villain of the new Superman movie. I for one waited for a new take on the Man of steel for a long time but having Zod once more after the success of Donner’s Superman 2 is just disappointing to me. It’s already been done. By taking another shot at this character is a great risk that they are taking.

For me, the most logical choice is Brainiac as the main Villian because he’s practically the reason why Kal-el’s parents are dead along with all of the Kryptonians. Superman has a lot of great enemies in his rogue gallery and I think they should pick a villain that needs some spotlight after a number of years.

I know I sound like another raging fanboy but as someone who has admired this character gives me the right to voice my opinion.

TAKE ON THE CAST

When Henry Cavill was announced to down the red cape, my initial reaction was “Who’s Henry Cavill.” He has yet to break into super stardom and that is something to worry about. I was disappointed that they casted an English actor seeing that the Man of steel is generally known as American. It’s sad that there’s no actors who are good enough for the role (If there are, then their star power will over shadow the movie). But I understand why they chose him. Being English brings that whole mild mannered thing look good on the screen. As long as he can act (And act real well) then I don’t have any problems.

Please take note that I’m thankful that that guy from Trueblood/One Tree Hill didn’t get the part. He may look good without his shirt on but he can’t act his acting skills rivals a pro wrestler’s on a slow Monday night.

As for Amy Adams, what worries me is if she can get that kick ass Lois Lane that I knew. Personally, I think Erica Durance delivered the best Lois Lane of all time. That was a Lois that I wanted to see. I’ve seen her act before. Most the characters she played were… how can I put it?... soft. I know I’m not one to judge, seeing that I haven’t seen The Fighter. She’s a good actress for sure, all I’m just saying that I’m worried.

TAKE ON SNYDER

I actually thought that I won’t have any problems on Snyder doing Superman after seeing Legend of the Guardians. But after the reviews on Suckerpunch came in… let me just say that that went out the window. What I gathered is Snyder is a good director, he just can’t let be alone with the writing staff. He’s good on what he wants the audience to see… he just can’t write well. I really hope he stays away from the writers on Man of Steel. Nolan should have something like a co-directorship (Wishful thinking) on the movie.

Who’s writing this movie again? I can’t remember.

ON MY IDEAS FOR THE NEW SUPERMAN MOVIE

As I said earlier, I want Brainiac as the main Villian of the story. The first person that comes to mind is Viggo Mortensen. I don’t why really. It just popped into my head.

I want to see a movie where the theme is BELONGING. Seeing Superman is the people’s hero (and an alien) he still isn’t human no matter what he tries. I’ve got this scene in my head where Lex tells him…

“You can save the world all you want… but you’ll never be one of us.”

Supes just shrugs this off but Lex is right. Superman later has an identity crisis. Does he really fit in in this world?
I also want a Superman movie where Clark finally tells Lois (or Lois finds out) that he is Superman. I have a seen in my head where the whole city is being attacked and Clark’s with Lois and other Daily Planet workers. A huge boulder or debree flies to their direction. Clark’s face turns serious and throws away his glasses aside and catch the object.” He looks at Lois and says…

“I didn’t want you find out this way.”

The romance should be there. I want Lois to take notice of Clark and have a better interaction with each other. I’m tired seeing a Clark Kent as a wallpaper kind of character. I mean they work together everyday… come on!

Again, I have a scene in my head where Lois has her back turned to Clark in the Planet and he just wants to tell her. I want his face show that struggle on revealing his identity and hiding it. I want that scene to show how Clark really does love Lois.

I also think the most challenging thing about Superman is doing a movie that will inspire people.I don't want to see another origin movie. We already have enough of that.

Oh, and by the way, I want Billy Zane as Luthor. I know it’s kind of easy because the dude is already bald and looks good in a suit. He also plays a man of great intellect well. He’s a good actor… that’s why I want him to play Lex (The animated series type and not the Hackman type)

Although I can’t do anything about the development of Snyder’s movie, I just want it to give us a great movie that we all deserve in the end of the day.

Canon out.

P.S. can anyone teach me how to post pictures and video clips here? I don’t know how to.)

@TheGODDAMNSUPERGUY....i agree with you. Zod is a good move. This is a re-boot and Zod will always be part of Supermans history.

Superman is not American but one of the only things that upset me with RETURNS was that you never even saw the flag or the Statue of Liberty or when Perry White was conferencing with his staff...he says, "does he still stand for truth, justice, ALL THAT STUFF". "All that stuff?" Singer couldnt even write into the script AND THE AMERICAN WAY? i thought that was really lame.

AMY ADAMS.....what a knock out and i dont mean just looks. she was amazing in THE FIGHTER. She was a real smart ass. She will certainly do justice to LOIS LANE.

Oh and General Zod was also a major player of the Doom of Krypton. So Brainiac makes as much sense as Zod. Also, there was never a confirmation that Zod would be the main villain or even a villain. Actually Snyder said he wouldn't be the villain in this. Which leads me to think Zod will just be seen on a pre-destoyed Krpton at the beginning of the movie.

They should have Brainiac working for Zod but then betrays him and fights Superman himself. Brainiac needs to be the villain of the movie.
