DC's HOURMAN TV Series In The Works At The CW

The Hollywood Reporter have revealed the next CW series based on a character from DC Comics, and it's leaning a bit more to the obscure side than the likes of Arrow or The Flash: Hourman! According to the site, the show will center on a "brilliant-yet-troubled pharmaceutical analyst who discovers that the visions that have plagued him since childhood are actually glimpses of tragic events occurring one hour in the future. Determined to win back his ex-wife and son, he heroically prevents these tragedies from unfolding, finding both purpose and redemption along the way." The character was actually glimpsed in a previous CW show, Smallville, as a member of the Justice Society Of America. In the comics he's been on that teams roster, as well as the Freedom Fighters, All-Star Squadron and the Justice League. THR also report that the CW are still "mulling over" that Amazon series, which would focus on the early days of Wonder Woman.

Let's see how the Flash does before putting in someone like Hourman, who nobody really cares about or even knows!

It's no surprise Dc runs the small screen. From animation to live action, Dc owns it. Even though Smallville has its fair share of haters, it still lasted ten seasons.

Nobody loses anything... If you want to watch the show, you watch it. If you don't, you don't. It's simple as.

Too bad it's not an A&E instead of emo teen girl CW. Hourman is a great character that needs to be on a real network.

Now it's just doomed to get ratings of 1.0 and below and only be watched by the Hart of Dixie crowd.

Don't know much about Hourman. Would rather see Black Lightning or Dr. Fate.

That's not Hourman. That sounds more like an action oriented version of Early Edition. I bet they'll borrow 24's real-time gimmick. I wonder what Abercrombie & Fitch model they'll cast as the lead...

AWESOME!!! Love me some classic DC heroes. And love that they are going obscure.

Though a bit corny its still classic and golden age.

Originally Rex Tyler would take a pill that would give him strength for one hour. In the 90s they updated him to some type of android or something.

I wonder if he will put on a costume and go superhero or its just the idea.

Hope this actually happens.

With Arrow doing well and Flash, Gotham and Constantine already in preproduction, I'm not surprised by this. We'll probably see even more of these announced soon

I hope DC doesn't spread themselves too thin with all these TV shows. Also, it will be hilarious if this character gets a TV show before Wonder Woman.

Love it! Hourman has always been one of my favorite Golden age superheroes. I wonder if they will put the show in a 1940s or present day setting. May lead to a JSA series if successful.

They seem to be giving Hourman a Sandman-like power, with an "hour" theme. Personally, I think they should look at the Sandman Mystery Theatre issues in which Rex Tyler appears and work with a similar concept: Pre-WWII Rex, using his powers/pills essentially on a "for-hire" basis. Not even a costume at that point. No real need for a costume if he is able to use his powers/pills sufficiently to keep the idea in the viewers' minds that he has them.
