I contacted Marjorie a few weeks ago and she was kind enough to take the time out of her hectic schedule to answer some of my questions about her newest series Black Widow as well as the actress who recently played the character in Iron Man 2, Scarlett Johansson and which Marvel movies she'd like to see get made! Have a read below and then share your thoughts in the usual place!

Marjorie M. Liu is a New York Times best-selling author and has written more than 10 romance novels, starting in March 2005 with the novel Tiger Eye. After writing the novel, X-Men: Dark Mirrors, in 2005 she began working with Marvel Comics. Three years later that she got her first assignment, the X-Men spin-off NYX and recently served as co-writer on Marvel's Dark Wolverine. Her latest proect is the ongoing Black Widow series which is one of the new titles to come out in Marvel's 'Heroic Age'.

JOSHW: What is it as a writer that most appeals to you about Black Widow?

MARJORIE M. LIU: Everything, really. She got a long, complex history as a spy and superhero, and her personality -- which is both ruthless and compassionate -- lends itself to telling full, rich stories.

JOSHW: What do you think about Scarlett Johansson being cast in the role? Would you like to see the character in her own solo movie?

MARJORIE M. LIU: I must confess that I haven't seen the movie yet. I live out in the country, with no theatre nearby! From what I've heard, though, Scarlett Johansson did a wonderful job with the character, and I would love to see Black Widow in her own film.

JOSHW: So far, the majority of superheroes that have made their way onto the big screen have been male. What female characters would you like to see adapted?

MARJORIE M. LIU: Wonder Woman! Catwoman (again)!

JOSHW: You've also been writing Daken in Dark Wolverine recently. Is that a character you'd like to see make his way onto the big screen?

MARJORIE M. LIU: Maybe? That would really depend on the way he's handled..!

I would of course like to say a big thank you to Marjorie for taking the time to answer my questions and if you'd like to know more about the writer and her work, then click HERE! The third issue of Black Widow is set to be released later this month on June 16th!

They could use a solo Black Widow movie to introduce the Winter Soldier. They'd get my money.

Thanks for your comments guys! She's talented and beautiful...what a combination! :)

ANIL: You really think so? I want a fan of her and Daniel Way's Dark Wolverine but I think her solo work on the titles you mention along with Black Widow has been superb!

LEE: Lol, I dread to think of the ways in which Fox would ruin Daken! Marvel Studios on the other hand would do a great job...if only, eh? And you should most definitely check out this series bud! I'm sure you could probably find the first two issues on eBay!

Stubbyswof: She is!? Damn, I didnt know that! :( That's a real pity as the first two issues of Black Widow were excellent IMO, and I was hoping she'd be sticking with the series for a long time to come! Any idea who her replacement is going to be?

Nice one again Josh.. I have never actually read any of her stuff that I'm aware of. But I do kinda like Daken believe it or not so I might check out his solo comic.

great job, though to me personally you waisted a question with the one about Daken! (though if you're a huge Daken fan or something, i sort of understand lol).

in all seriousness, good job. and as far as female characters needing their own movies, i definitely would like to see:
- wonder woman
- catwoman (we CANNOT let halle berry's version be the last word)
- ms. marvel (the marvel character, that is. it could be a grittier version of supergirl)
- black widow
- red sonja!
