The comic book period movie is set in 1912. Adèle Blanc-Sec, is an early 20th century young adventurer slash journalist and she hunts down all kinds of supernatural and mythical creatures including stuff like sailing to Egypt to tackle mummies and things of all shapes and sizes.
Adele is based on the comic books of Jacques Tardi and Slashfilm's synopsis is, it's looking like the first movie is adapting the comics Adele and the Beast, Mummies on Parade and maybe The Mad Scientist too.
The comic book adaption is directed by Luc Besson (expect amamazing visual effects) and stars Louise Bourgoin. Adele has a French release which is set for April 2010 and will have English speaking distribution.
