Lexcorp...will it EVER exist?

Follow the jump to see how I feel about the exclusion of Lexcorp from all of the Superman films...

As most if not all Superman-fans would know...Lexcorp plays a very integral role within the world of Superman. It is an important facet in many Superman stories and it could serve as the PERFECT plot-device for a live-action Superman-film. Sadly...there have been 5 Superman films thus far...without any use nor mention of Lexcorp.

This is a grave injustice. Look at most other superhero films...Spider-Man films have had Osborn Industries...Batman films have had Wayne Enterprises...Iron Man films have had Stark Industries. If there's anything (among many things) the Superman films have been missing...it's LEXCORP.

But having seen all of the Superman films...I can tell you...that I could see WHY they never bothered to introduce Lexcorp. I find it hard to believe that the Hackman/Spacey version of Lex could possibly create his own company nor run it successfully. They were...for a better sense of the word...well...observe the picture below to see what i mean-

The film version of Luthor just didn't seem very...fit to run a company.

Now I know people are tired of Lex Luthor. Ok...but in all fairness and all honesty...we've never seen Lex Luthor in any of the Superman films.

THIS is Lex Luthor...

THIS is Larry from 'Three's Company'

When will we ever get to see this...on the big screen?

Probably never. The Superman lawsuit MIGHT spell the end of the Superman film franchise by 2013...and with this film hitting theaters in 2012...I see it unlikely we'll see another Superman film hitting the big screen. And with Snyder already having other projects lined up for himself after finishing his Superman film. I just don't think we'll be getting a sequel to 'Man of Steel' which is pretty sad...because it would have been really nice to finally see Lexcorp on the big screen.

Oh well. I guess it's just left for fanboys to simply DREAM about...

I just still can't believe...we're on the 6th Superman film now...and still there is no Lexcorp. It is a cornerstone of Superman's world much like the Daily Planet itself. Lexcorp needs to finally exist or at least be mentioned.

Post your thoughts below...if you don't agree with my editorial, that is fine. I don't expect 100% of CBMers on this site to agree with it. I'm just speaking from a fan's perspective of what I would have liked to have seen in the Superman films...what I felt was WEAK about those films and just what I would like to see in the new film. That is all.

If Lex is included in this film then I agree that LexCorp needs to be part of it.
There is more minor casting news to come. I don't remember seeing Lana cast yet either. Either way, all the casted characters so far are the major roles and no minor characters.
It seems fitting to include LexCorp if Lex is included (even if in a very minor/cameo role or just in the background).

I know, I'm a little late commenting, but Wayne Enterprises, Stark Industries, and Oscorp all have been around since Batman, Ironman, and Norman Osbourn have been around. Lexcorp is a modern age idea. The Reeve films were based on the Bronze age, and the Routh fillm was based on the Reeve films. As for it existing in the upcoming reboot, who knows?

@60f13- Agreed dude! Only the major roles have been casted. There is still a chance Lex Luthor will indeed have a part to play. I believe i remember reading that in the 1st draft of the script, Lex was going to help Superman to defeat Zod by using kryptonite then considers using it against Superman but ultimately relents. I WANT THAT IN THE FILM.

But we'll have to wait and see. Lex Luthor, Pete Ross, Lana Lang, Jimmy Olsen and Perry White have yet to be cast.

@golden123- I know, i know. I'm just saying it makes sense to bring in LexCorp finally. As for the routh film being based on the reeve films, that's why Bryan Singer [frick]ed up so badly. Idiot should have based it on the modern-age comics.

Plus by the time Superman Returns was being made, LexCorp had already been around long enough for them to introduce it. It's been around since the [frick]ing 1980's. Singer is just a dope.

I think introducing LexCorp is one way to start differentiating Lex in the new film from the previous films.

@6of13- Yep, I totally agree. Because then once LexCorp is introduced people will realize "oh hey, this is a no-nonsense lex luthor"

-_-

I hope Snyder didn't remove Lex from the script. because I am pretty sure Goyer had Lex and LexCorp in the script originally but then I remember Snyder did some re-writes on it dammit...

@LP4 Snyder never did any re-writes he got picked because he wasn't going to try and re-write bits like other candidates such as Jones or Aronofsky would have. He got picked so they get the ball rolling for this movie.

@Hellsing- REALLY??? Dude I hope you're right. So basically what you're saying is...that anything that happens in the Superman reboot, any characters that are/aren't included, are all from Nolan/Goyer's original concept right? Nothing creatively changed by Snyder?

Because I seem to remember an article on here from months ago where the 3rd act for the film was too weak or something, or it said the 3rd act was terrible so i remember Snyder had to fix up the 3rd act. That's what worries me. And also apparently Lex Luthor was going to be part of the 3rd act in the 1st draft of the screenplay for the film. Could that still remain the same?
