Nicolas Cage, who arguably deserves his own section at CBM as a comic book character come to life, (kinda like Arnold Schwarzenegger in Last Action Hero but with comics) appears to be lending his talents to the feature length reboot of Harry Potter meets Revelations book series, Left Behind, written by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins.  The books, which offer a fictionlized interpretation  on scriptures from the Book of Revelations in the New Testament of the Christian Bible, were popular from the mid 90's through the mid 2000's, and produced a number of films starring Kirk Cameron (Growing Pains).  I suspect the big twist at the end is that Cage is actually the Antichrist.  Check out the first trailer below!

This entire project (and the sycophantic fans that actually think this is any good) is just so embarrassing...and this is coming from someone born and raised in a Christian household. The entire Left Behind series is just so ridiculously bad, and it gives all Christians a bad name unfortunately. The fact that Nic Freaking Cage is the lead actor in this latest attempt says it all!

I enjoyed the books and I think it has the potential to be a compelling series of films, but Christian based films will never have the budget, or the talent to not come across cheesy, which i regret. Even the biggest films such as Noah aren't technically based on biblical stories, but graphic novels which take great liberties with biblical stories.

Kirk Cameron is such a nutjob. I remember watching this old YouTube clip of him and this Creationist scientist talking about how the shape of a banana is irrefutable evidence of God and that, by itself, the shape of a banana proves that evolution is BS. That video (and the comments underneath haha) is absolutely amazing lol.

I'm a Christian who read and enjoyed the books. But as a person with a film background, these books don't translate well to the screen. They're just too preachy. They won't resonate with the general audience.

Not all of his films are crap.

Does anyone remember Raising Arizona? Because I don't.

I wouldn't mind seeing some adaptation of this though I'd prefer a gritty miniseries as in HBO.

Cage has made some great films and he's made some terrible ones. Trash him all you want, you still talk about him. He's still in the public eye, making a shit-load of money and getting to do what he loves. He must be doing something right. He's there, making money, and we're here, talking about him. He can't be doing EVERYTHING wrong.
