Painkiller Jane, an Event Comic character created by Joe Quesada and Jimmy Palmiotti, will be the Sci Fi Channel's first original super-hero film based on a comic book character.

A two-hour pilot will be made in conjunction with NBC Universal TV Studios and MGM TV, Variety says. The trade adds that the story is "about a young Marine officer who is exposed to a biochemical weapon that endows her with self-healing powers.

"Jane is forced to work covertly, fighting crime while running from military and medical officials who would exploit her gifts. Along the way she will meet up with a disparate group of outsiders who become her surrogate family," Variety said.

Look for it this upcoming summer.
