Last I talked to Malcolm Harris, there was a movie on the horizon for the Witch Girls. Alas, fate can be fickle, and now the Witch Girls have a different sort of adventure in store for them.

Sequential Tart: Last I talked to you, you were in talks for a Witch Girls movie, based on the comic series you developed. I know that, as often happens in the industry, things ultimately didn't work out, but is the possibility still in the cards?
Malcolm Harris: This was a case of Hollywood pulling the plug after a lot of people put in a lot of hard work into the production.
We did casting, John Noble (Fringe) was set to play one of the villains (Deacon Black). Claudia Christen (Babylon 5) was going to play Helena, and the Witch Girls were a bunch of super talented kids. I was paid my option fee for the script I wrote and was looking forward to traveling to Australia for filming when — boom! — it all fell apart.
Egos and careers were bruised and that's the biz. I'm still owed a small part of my script fee, and yeah, that sucks, but what really sucks is the kids who put their hearts into those characters never had a chance to show their talent to the world.
As for the future? The option with that company ran out, the script is back with me and I'm ready to give it another try. Heck, I still have copies of the storyboards.
