Q&A with Kim Santiago

The self confessed fan-girl speaks out!

#1 Hi Kim, would you call yourself a fan girl?

Ya I'd say so. I've been reading and collecting comics since i was a kid.

From that I have a deep rooted love for the characters I've grown up with as well as for my fellow comic geeks lol.

#2 How long have you been interested in acting/ modeling?

I've been in love with acting since I was born. My parents instilled a love of theater and music in me from an early age.
Later I discovered movies so there has never been anything I've wanted to do more.
Modeling didn't come into play for me until very recently but so far I'm having a blast!

#3 who do you consider to be your idol/s?

Audrey Hepburn, Rita Moreno, Betty Page, Edith Piaf, Elektra, Wonder Woman, Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, Rorschach, and my Mom.

#4 Do you read any comics, if so which are your favourite?

Yes I do! I like Typhoid Mary, JLA, JLI, Elektra, Deadpool, Punisher, Iron Man, Blue and Gold, Watchmen, Batman, 30 Days of Night, Lenore, JTHM, and the list goes on...

#5 What about films?

I LOVE movies! There are really too many to list but I can give you my top 5. 5) Escape from NY, 4)Scarface, 3)The Dark Knight, 2) Nightmare on Elm Street, and 1) Terminator.

#6 Do you have a favorite comic book movie? Any upcoming films you’re looking forward to?

I really liked The Incredible Hulk and Iron Man but I'd have to say my favorite comic book movie is The Dark Knight.

Chris Notarile and I went to see the midnight showing when it came out and I can still watch it over and over.
Right now I'm really looking forward to The new Iron Man movie.

#7 If you had the chance which comic book movie would you love to be part of? Any roles you’d love to play?

My #1 choice would be to play Elektra in a big Hollywood reboot, so long as it's done right! But if not her, I'd love to play either Typhoid Mary or Domino. Both are real badasses that would be a lot of fun to play.

#8 When did you first hear of Blinky Productions?

I first met Chris on a music video set almost 2 years ago. He told me about his company and asked me what comic hero I'd like to play if I had a chance.

I said Elektra since I'm a huge fan and I had jet black hair at the time. We've been working together ever since.

#9 Which fan films have you contributed to?

Well I stared in and co-wrote Elektra, Worked as a boom operator for Punisher 79', Had a small cameo in Kirby, and am now getting into the directing aspect in the Mr J. movies.

#10 can you give us any insider info on upcoming projects for Blinky?

You can definitely expect a 3rd Mr. J film some time next month.
There have also been a few meetings over Deadpool and Typhoid Mary as well as much more. Guess you'll just have to keep an eye out ;).

Thanks for all your time Kim, it was a pleasure to speak with you.

And here's some of the questions you guys asked...

______________________________________

Okay question @Kim your views on the Elektra and Daredevil movies??
Plus is they’re gonna be a sequel to the Elektra fan film?

LEEE777

Qa) Personally I liked the Daredevil movie. I was fairly satisfied with most of the cast, enjoyed the fight scenes, and could live with the changes to the story.
Sure it could have been A LOT better but basically it was too good to hate but too much of bastardization to love.
With the Elektra movie, (sorry ahead of time to any who may get insulted),
I've sat down to watch it 12 times and have never gotten through it.
As a fan I really couldn't enjoy it enough not the change the channel.

Qb) We've talked about it a few times and have a script we've been playing around with for a while now.

I don't know if we'll get to it this year but it's a big possibility for the spring.
________________________________________

Your fan film is pretty good.
If they were to reboot Elektra or make a sequel, what story do you think they should follow?

I always wanted Frank Miller's Elektra Assassin but it’s doubtful that would ever happen...

Rorschach01

I really think the Ultimate Elektra and Ultimate Daredevil has an interesting and well told story that would translate to film nicely with the right cast and crew.

Hey, have you thought of doing any other comic [book] material.

BrutalDuke

Ya, I have a lot of plans with Blinky to do a lot more comic book roles, I'm really excited about it.
________________________________________

Hey Kim would you consider playing a drow (dark elf) in any fantasy films?
Would you dress as Psylocke this year for Halloween?

[If not what are you dressing as?]

RomeyRome2002

Qa) If the part is right for me I'd be glad to.
Qb) No Psylocke for me this year, I'm going to
be Green/Gold Phoenix, I'll have a bunch of pics on my myspace after Halloween: www.myspace.com/kns117
________________________________________

Can you crush a beer can with your thighs?
If so, prove it

MultiPurposePoni

Yes I can actually, if you want proof email Blinky Productions and commission a beer crushing video :P
________________________________________

What is your fav DC comic/charater?
And what your fav non-superhero movie/tv show?

Magicfingers

Qa) I have 2. My favorite DC superhero is Batman and my favorite DC supervillain is Poison Ivy.
Qb) Favorite non-superhero movie is 'Closer' with Jude Law and Clive Owen.
Favorite non-superhero tv show is 'Law and Order: SVU'.
________________________________________

Who do you think would make a good Elektra.

bubastis237

Me of course! lol. If not me then I'd say maybe Jessica Biel so long as she dyes her hair.
________________________________________

Are you single? Lol.

SlaughterHouse

No I have a wonderful boyfriend who I've been seeing for just over a year.

And most importantly of all, care to share your vital statistics?

Kaos

Damn, i hate having broadband problems, i just wrote stuff an it cut off ffs lol!

Anyways, you tried to watch ELEKTRA 12 Times thats brave heh heh!

Though ELEKTRA does hold something dear to me lol.

I remember booking time off work for the last showing of that movie, i had'nt had the time to watch it yet back then!

So i booked time off work and had the whole [frick]ing CINEMA to myself!!! That never happens, it was pretty cool! Yeah i was the last showing and it was in the afternoon, but still, ppl pay big money to watch a private screening in a big cinema!!

Ahhhhh memories lol! ; D

GUYS @ I still think that FOX movie shouldve had a cameo of BEN as DAREDEVIL in it or BULLSEYE even, oh well, hoping the reboots gonna be sweet!

StephenStrange - 10/24/2009, 12:39 PM
Catwoman was worse. But we really are talking about the very bottom of the barrel here with the real trashbag juice like Batman and Robin and Nick Fury: Agent of Shield.
So it's kind of hard to compare them. It's like comparing a barnacle to a carbunkle lol
StephenStrange
StephenStrange - 10/24/2009, 12:41 PM
LEEE I can't believe you did all that for Elektra man. Didn't you see the FAIL coming a mile off?

DARTH @ It was a comic book movie dude, an i loved DD, so i didn't care, though i did leave it till the very last minute lol, so i wasn't too fussed seeing it!!

And yeah B&R is bottom of the barrel, i dont class HOFFS FURY lol, it was just a tv movie, otherwise you'd have to put in so many like the JLA tv pilot, etc etc.
But i think i class CATWOMAN the lowest of the low, even B&R had its moments, cringe, okay maybe not lol!

GUN @ Gtrman @ Behave lmao!! ; D

ElBicho - 10/26/2009, 8:25 AM
@TyphoidIvy87,

I respect the fact that you have the tenacity to make your own movies.

I guess I'd like them better if the dude playing the Joker put his own take on it, as opposed to doing his best (worst) Heath Ledger.

Maybe re-cast him? Ryan Reynolds can't turn down comic book movies. Shoot him an e-mail.

RYAN REYNOLDS for Mr. J!

TyphoidIvy87 - 10/26/2009, 9:27 AM
thank you gunsmith :)

@ElBicho the guy playing the joker in Mr.J is Chris Notarile and personally i'm very happy with his performance. i think the reason you think he did a bad Heath impression is because it wasn't totally supposed to be a 100% accurate Heath impression. I told him to take what Heath put into the character and make it his own. guess it just wasn't for you.

JUST MAKING THE MOVIE AND PUTTING IT OUT THERE FOR THE WORLD TO SEE ALONE IS A FEAT IN ITSELF AND YOU'LL ALWAYS HAVE CRITICS AT ANY LEVEL..BUT YOU KNOW YOU NEVER SEE THE CRITICS MAKE THEIR OWN MOVIE. SAYERS, AND DO-ERS..
