SUPERTED Reboot On The Way

SUPERTED Reboot On The Way

After a Bananaman movie and a new Danger-Mouse series, the latest '80s animated adventure to get the reboot treatment is Superted. But, creator Mike Young says we should expect some of the elements that would be considered "un-PC" will be done away with..

SuperTed

I'm sure many of you will remember Superted: a teddy bear is tossed out of a factory, brought to life by a spotty alien and given super powers by Mother Nature herself. He then battles Texas Pete and his henchmen, some of whom might be considered les than politically correct by today's standards. “In SuperTed, we had a gun-slinging cowboy, a flamboyantly gay skeleton and a fat guy who had jokes made about his weight,” Young tells this week’s Radio Times. “And all these things you just wouldn’t do today. But you can still write the show in a funny, entertaining way.” The new series is expected to air on the BBC in 2016. More at the link below.

"In SuperTed, we had a gun-slinging cowboy, a flamboyantly gay skeleton and a fat guy who had jokes made about his weight"

But that stuff was awesome!

What, we're going to ignore the obvious obesity of a character out of fear of reprisal from fatqaida? Is the skeleton going to turn the kids gay? Or is he too arousing for the soccer moms? And didn't that gun slinging cowboy have half his face hanging off or something while still being the most capable of the lot? Way to sweep disability under the rug.

Sad news.
