The Russo Brothers Set To Direct CHERRY, Their First Film Post AVENGERS 4

Following their work on INFINITY WAR and the CAPTAIN AMERICA franchise, Anthony and Joe Russo are gearing up for something new. CHERRY, a drama, will be their first effort following AVENGERS 4

The Russos have had a hell of a year. Not only have they released the cinematic experience of a lifetime, but they did this while developing several television shows and films through their production company, AGBO. The company's latest Assassination Nation will hit theaters in the fall.

Clearly, their run as creators at Marvel is an impressive one. Infinity War delivered on everything Marvel has promised over the past ten years, and though Avengers 4 will release next year, it seems as if the Russos will opt to have less of an influence going forward.

According to Deadline, the duo has already locked in their next project. Cherry, a PTSD drama following a bank robber who had served in Iraq, is reportedly something the Russos are very passionate about. Based on the autobiography of Nico Walker, the Russos recently bought the rights, which had spawned a seven figure bidding war. Expect the film to release during 2020 at the earliest.

Will you be on board for the Russos' next directorial effort?

I’ll be there, their track record has been amazing so far. They’ve directed both my favorite solo and team movies in the MCU as well as made one of what is in my opinion contenders for greates action movie of all time with Winter Soldier so they’ve already earned my ticket barring some monumental [frick] up with Avengers 4

@Ha1frican - This is why they need to direct Black Widow. It would be awesome to see the kind of action they could bring that.

@SonOfAGif - it would but you know there’s gonna be complaints if it isn’t done by a female director

Has anyone seen the movie You, Me and Dupree? Is it any good? I don't mean compared to their MCU movies, just in general.

I'm actually happy about this. They've really knocked it out of the park with all their CBM movies (so far), and much like Nolan, I'm highly anticipating what they will be capable of when armed with a stellar reputation, a big budget, and free reign.

They are great directors, their run at Marvel has shown it. They can balance action, comedy, drama all in one and at a top tier.

I'm sure they will be back doing Marvel films down the line, but I can't wait to see what they do on their own. Will always have my money.

I gotta thank the Russo's the same amount as Kevin Feige. They've done just as much for the MCU.

I think the guy who wrote the book is currently in prison....not saying I'm not gonna watch the film just a fun fact.

I'll definitely support these guys. Sounds like an interesting true crime tale.

Usually directors have quite a few films under their belt before directing comic book movies. All these guys have is You, Me and Dupree so I have idea how their future filmography will turn out. Curious.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - Don't forget James Wan was a horror film director and a newcomer with Saw and now he is directing huge budget blockbusters. I think talent, heart, and creativity is what these film studios are going for nowadays instead of huge track records like Michael Bay or James Cameron.

Those directors have huge egos that cloud the heart and soul of a project.

That's fine, but get your ass back in Marvel once we start working on the X-Men or else...😐

Yes! I've been waiting for a remake of Cherry 2000! What? It's not a remake of the 80s classic? Boo hoo.
