We May Already Know What BARBIE's Post-Credits Scene Will Be For Upcoming IMAX Release

It was recently revealed that Barbie will get a 7-day run on IMAX screens with a brand new post-credits scene, but a resurfaced behind-the-scenes photo offers a couple of options for what it will be...

Barbie has dominated the box office since it was first released in July and is now 2023's biggest movie. The achievement is one it will likely retain based on what else is on the way between now and the New Year, and it's an undeniably epic achievement.

It's also one that is being rewarded with a one-week IMAX engagement starting September 22. In order to tempt moviegoers back to Barbieland, Greta Gerwig is set to add a never-before-seen post-credits scene...which we may have already caught a glimpse of!

Last month, a photo shared by Barbie editor Nick Houy started doing the rounds online showing a corkboard with each of the movie's scenes and a few left on the cutting room floor.

As we first revealed on Toonado.com, we see a stinger dubbed "Midge in Labor," a sequence featuring Midge finally giving birth while joined by Alan and Helen Mirren's narrator. There's a chance this won't be the scene used, though we'd say it's highly likely.

Other Barbie deleted scenes include "Barbies Can Save Us", "Barbie Monument", "Barbie Land Creation", and "Ken Toys Returned," and there's a chance one of them will be repurposed for an IMAX stinger.

"Ken Toys Returned" was going to show Mattel's Mojo Dojo Casa House toys being returned to stores with the Ken movie also cancelled once all was made right in Barbieland. Could that be the new stinger? Well, we'll find out one way or the other next month.

"To live in Barbie Land is to be a perfect being in a perfect place," reads the movie's brief synopsis. "Unless you have a full-on existential crisis. Or you’re a Ken."

The epic ensemble includes Will Ferrell, John Cena, Simu Liu, America Ferrera, Ariana Greenblatt, Ncuti Gatwa, Emma Mackey, Alexandra Shipp, Michael Cera, Issa Rae, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Rhea Perlman, Kate McKinnon, Dua Lipa and Helen Mirren.

Barbie is now playing in theaters.

Just don’t make a sequel. This was one of those unique kind of movies. I wish Hollywood would stop sequelizing everything and just make unique movies.

@JonAwesome - I can think of a few movies that did not need a sequel: Jaws, Jurassic Park, A Quiet place just off the top of my head.

@Arthorious - exactly! The originals were masterpieces in their own right and the sequels just kinda muddied the water. Unless you are willing to do something different like what Cameron did with Aliens and T2.

Looks like they are trying to squeeze out as much as possible before its inevitable streaming release next month. That must suck. If they could...they probably would have left this in theaters for another month or two.

Never would’ve predicted Barbie as the highest grossing movie of 2023 but here we are: congrats to all involved.

I saw the post-credit scene:

Thomas the Tank Engine, spotting an UNO logo eyepatch breaks, into Barbie's dreamhouse.

Barbie: Who are you?
Thomas: "I am Barbie". You think you're the only toy in the world? Ms. Barbie, you've become part of a bigger product line, you just don't know it yet. I'm here to talk to you about the Mattel initiative."
