Like Jon Romita Sr. & Jr., Jack Kirby, Todd McFarlane, Stan the Man Lee, Billy Tucci & Joe Sinott.

But one of my favorites of all time has to be Billy Tucci creator of Shi.

Alex ross is an amazing artist, but when I read comic books with his drawings in them it doesnt feel right. Again he is an amazing artist, just not my cup of tee. I do like his portraits. But definitely Jim Lee. Soooo amazing. Gotta love 'em

alex ross is by far my favorite artist
his comics and covers are just too utterly beautiful

next is Romita Jr.
i cant explain it but something about his art draws me to it ever since I picked up Kick-Ass (I dont read spider-man so had little exposure to him before that)

Jim Lee is also very talented

Am I alone in thinking Marc Silvestri is a [frick]ing outstanding artist? I agree that Ross' art just feels oddly out of place, he is a spectacular artist, but maybe I'm just distracted by his style, I dunno.

I hear you guys, I totally forgot about Jim Lee, & Alex Ross. But I think Billy Tucci artwork is just as good, but he isn't as well known like the others you guys mentioned.

Dale Keown for the detail:

Joe Madureira for the dynamix:

Damion Scott for the "storytelling" aspect. the man litterally drew several Batgirl comics with almost no words in them in a way where you could follow the story as if you were reading it.

And of course Adam Hughes for drawing the finest women:

These are just some of my old favorites.

Arthur Adams-I loved the way he drew wolverine.

Frank Quietly-His style has a freshness to me. His art is like a cross between R. Crumb and whoever designed Aeon Flux.

Alan Davis-One of my old faves. He seems over borrowed from and under appreciated these days.

Jae Lee-His covers for "The Dark Tower" series are really amazing. Seems like as long as you have "Lee" as a last name you're going to be a bad ass.

John Romita jr-Does the baddy on this cover look familiar?

Michael Allred-I used to be a huge "Madman" fan. I loved the simplicity to his art coupled with the complexity of his story.

Sam Kieth. Because, Dude it's fuking SAM KIETH!

Osiris

hands down Joe Mad, Michael Turner and Humberto Ramos. started loving Humberto when he did Crimson man that was a good series.
ThoroughbredSteele0
ThoroughbredSteele0 - 6/7/2009, 10:42 AM
I'm gonna have to go with clayton crain and david finch. crain for the two ghost rider mini series 'the road to damnation' and 'trail of tears'. fich for his run on the first 12 issues of moon knight. oh almost forgot john cassiday for his astonish x-men run

ThoroughbredSteele0--Had to do it again. Didn't like how small they turned out. I picked some different Finch stuff though.

Clayton Crain

David Finch

Thanks for the posts, the pics are sweet. I forgot bout David Finch for the X-men 100 pic to after the House of M. I havent' read any of the Anita Blake Vampire series, but do recognize the pic. WitchBlade was also a another bad ass comic with Michael Turner @ the wheel.
ThoroughbredSteele0
ThoroughbredSteele0 - 6/8/2009, 10:29 AM
thanks betty, great picks btw. and your right about the x-men pic. its cool you picked different finch stuff, I had forgotten that it was him that did the X-men pic too.
@ spock - actually that was drawn after the new Deadly Genesis, if you look between Phoenix and Colossus, Vulcan and the rest of the first team are there.
Shaman
Shaman - 6/8/2009, 11:18 AM
Yes there are similarities between Ramos and MAD! I loved collecting both they're "Cliffhanger" titles. Here's another artist that is very similar and has put out great titles:

ALE GARZA!!!

EVE PROTOMECHA

NINJA BOY

Spock

Hey Shaman Ninja Boy looks like an underground comic.

@Shaman@ is the guy that does E.V.E the same one that did the Tenth cause the art looks similar and that chick looks like Espa from the Tenth

Shaman - 6/8/2009, 1:51 PM
Osiris- Tony Daniel does have a similar style to Ale Garza but they aren't the same guy LOL :P I find Ale a bit more versatile than Tony though.

Spock- Yeah but it isn't. It was supposed to be an ongoing series from WS. For some unexplained reason, they cut it short at Issue #6. They freakin killed off the hero in a weird and uncalled for way!!! You see, his story was about the fact that he's a young ninja aprentice and that he came back from training one day to find his clan slaughtered. He vowed revenge and whent on his way to become a ninja master and kill the culprits. He found out who they were and he confronted them at the end. They literally kicked his lolly gagin ass off a cliff/ the end! I was SHOCKED!!! My jaw dropped lower than it ever did. It was setting up to be one of my very favorite comic books of all time, and they trew it away in the can! I was apauled.

I'm just glad it didn't happen to my REAL all time favorite comic book, CRIMSON :)) Great taste Osiris!
Betty
Betty - 6/8/2009, 7:01 PM
I really love the style of all of the similar guys. Garza, Ramos, Madueira. They have that "in motion" style or even bubbling in front of my eyes kind of thing.

I just realized that Finch up there reminds me of a cross between Jim Lee and Sylvestri. They're so similar that hardly makes sense.
Shaman
Shaman - 6/9/2009, 8:10 AM
Here's an artist i enjoyed on Soul Saga who resembles Finch's style:

Stephen Platt (Splatt)

JoshWilding

my two faves are john romita jr and steve mcniven
Shaman
Shaman - 6/12/2009, 7:30 AM
REALLY?!?!?!?! Damn i can't stand Romita Jr.'s blocky stiffed style!!! As an artist myself, i find it very unbearable to look at! Which sucked for me cause i really wanted to read J. Mike Strazinski's run on Amazing Spidey but the art just wasted the whole experience for me! His dad was just so much better IMO and somehow i can't help but feel it's the only reason Jr.'s in the business today. I've known way better artists personally who tried out for the comic book industry and were rejected. Just seeing him disgrace Spidey AND JMS like that really turns me sour :(

But i do love Stevey!!!

Spock
Spock - 6/12/2009, 12:23 PM
Hey Shaman I bet you didn't know that Romita Jr. help create Black Panther for BET. But he drew it in Jack Kirby's style. This is coming straight from Comic Con last year when I attended. Is that your pic above that looks good for Civil War Draft?
Betty
Betty - 6/12/2009, 4:35 PM

Spock, i don't understand... i didn't post up any of MY art on here??? It's all artists i like :)

Betty, i think you put the finger on it. And i'm pretty sure they'll want more than just BET. That's probably why it's not on yet. They're still shoppin' :P
Betty
Betty - 6/13/2009, 10:37 PM
Dude that channel is bad bad bad. I did a video project called Gijoe vs BET which was hilarious I might add. I realized I never watch BET and I just wondered what was going on so I don't wrongly make fun of them.

First I had to find it on regular cable. It took me a while because I had no guide and the guide channel went away. Once I located BET it was completely impossible to watch and I think it has nothing to do with my being white. I don't even know how to describe it. Like a trip to the dentist, I don't remember much and I don't want to talk about it.

I hope they put it on a channel under 74.
