Back in 2015, Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Elysium) announced plans to helm an Alien movie that would bring back iconic franchise heroine Ellen Ripley and seemingly resurrect Hicks and Newt after they were unceremoniously killed-off in Alien 3.

Sigourney Weaver and Michael Biehn were both said to be interested in reprising their respective roles, but before the film could officially enter the development phase, Blomkamp revealed that the plug had been pulled and 20th Century Fox had decided to move forward with Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant.

The movie, which was tentatively titled Alien: Red Harvest, is probably destined to remain one of the big "what could have been" projects, but we do have some previously unseen concept art which gives us a better idea of what Blomkamp had planned for what was envisioned as a direct follow-up to James Cameron's Aliens.

Unearthed by AvP Galaxy, the artwork features Ripley, a new android (sorry, artificial person) character, an alien queen, and more. Check it out at the link below and let us know what you think.

Disney will soom ruin the Alien franchise by watering it down also like they have everything else.

@John456 - The franchise was already ruined by Resurrection, both AvP movies and whatever nonsense Ridley Scott, the frigging creator of the franchise, tried to do with his two prequels.

One thing Blomkamp does extremely well is he makes his futuristic landscapes look very lived in and very believable. There’s a real grit and tangibility to what you see on screen in his movies. I’d love to see what he’d do with an Alien movie.
