Thanks to the new issue of License! Global (via Infinite Earths), we have a first look at some promotional artwork of the the new Jaegers that are set to debut in Pacific Rim: Uprising.

Though we don't have names for the two mechs on either side of him just yet, Bloody Disgusting reports that the blue fella in the middle will be known as Gipsy Avenger by way of tribute to his fallen predecessor, Gipsy Danger.

Pacific Rim: Uprising is set to hit theaters on February 23, 2018, and you can check out the first official still from the movie right HERE.

Really looking forward to the sequel. I don't get all the hate for the original. It was intentionally cheesy at times, but a fun film, and beautiful to look at. Enjoy watching in the 4K on the big screen.

@DAGuess - Looks like Gypsy Danger slimmed down. I'm tired of these unrealistic jaeger body standards represented in Hollywood. What about all the average jaegers out there looking for work.

@DAGuess - lol!

@DAGuess - I know, it was an awesome film, that surprisingly doesn't get that much respect. I remember when it first came out, I was lurking the imdb message boards following the discussions, mainly box office reports hoping it was successful enough to get a sequel.

@PrimitiveMan - It reminds me of Starship Troopers (classic) in terms of tone, and it seems to go over a lot of heads. Really happy they followed through with the sequel. Now if I can just get Hellboy 3 and Tron 3.

@DAGuess - Wait, is that Gypsy Danger? I mean it's definitely similar enough that I'd say it is, and the damage it got in the first movie would warrant a rebuild/upgrade but I can't find the confirmation and it looks different enough that it could be an entirely new jaeger.
DAGuess
DAGuess - 2/11/2017, 7:37 AM
@Origame - It's an upgrade - Gypsy Avenger.
DAGuess
DAGuess - 2/11/2017, 7:40 AM
@Origame - Technically new, but an homage to the original, as mentioned above.

Origame - 2/11/2017, 7:42 AM
@DAGuess - Ok, now I'm more confused. Did they rebuild/upgrade Gypsy then or just made a Jaeger as like Gypsy 2.0?
DAGuess
DAGuess - 2/11/2017, 7:48 AM
@Origame - Sounds like a new one.

@DAGuess - making your big final showdown under water where everything is slow and you can't see shit was a big mistake imo.

DAGuess - 2/11/2017, 1:04 PM
@Ryguy88 - I think it added to the tension and the fact the jaegers are clearly disadvantaged and outnumbered in a desperate last attempt to stop the kaiju.

@DAGuess - Yeah it did exactly what you want from that kind of movie. Could have done without the intentionally super over-the-top British scientist guy tho. That dude was just annoying.

@MiopTop - In Pacific Rim, Gipsy Danger has a big red button with an image of a sword and the word SWORD written in it, and when you push it a big great sword comes out.

THAT. MOVIE. WAS. AWESOME.!

@ODanil - Yeah. I managed to avoid diluting the entertainment with useless grit or irony.

Just 2 hours of "Want to watch a giant robot beat up a giant monster ? Well F*CK YOU HERE'S TWO GIANT ROBOTS BEATING UP 3 GIANT MONSTERS !!"

I never saw Pacific Rim. Instead, I saw Despicable Me 2... And Turbo... And Smurfs 2...

I regret seeing one of those. See if you can guess which one.

@UltimateCarnage - Smurfs.

DM2 and Turbo were harmless cute fun. Smurfs was another "Well, the chart says that kids today like ___ so we should put ___ in our crappy movie."

@Quicker - that's one of the best ways to describe some of the less inspired animated films lately. They mash current trends together and hope it works. See: Ice Age 3-17(or whatever one they're on now. It's like Land Before Time, they stopped numbering them)

Despicable Me 3 looks pretty good. I saw Batman Lego yesterday and had a smile on my face the entire time. My nephew is obsessed with Ninjago and the trailer for the movie makes me very interested.

@ALostCause - I tried to find a smoother transformer pic, which looks a bit more like them

@BillCipher999 - that's exactly what I thought when I saw the blue Gypsy Avenger. I actually love the first three Transformers movies but PR has the battle of separating itself from that franchise
