GODZILLA TV Series Adds GOTG VOL. 2 And FALCON AND WINTER SOLDIER Stars Kurt Russell And Wyatt Russell

Apple TV+'s MonsterVerse TV series just made two of its biggest casting additions to date in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 star Kurt Russell and his son, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier's Wyatt Russell.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 star Kurt Russell's last television role was in 1977 when he appeared in the original Hawaii Five-0. Now, we've learned (via SFFGazette.com) that the iconic actor is set to return to the small screen alongside his son, Wyatt Russell (The Falcon and The Winter Soldier), in Apple TV+ and Legendary's upcoming MonsterVerse TV series.

There's no word on who either actor will star as, though we can't help but wonder if the father and son will play, well, father and son. Another possibility is that Wyatt will portray a younger version of his dad's character in flashbacks that better explore Monarch and this world, but we'll hopefully get some official details soon.

Regardless, the duo joins an impressive ensemble that includes Anna Sawai, Ren Watabe, Kiersey Clemons, Joe Tippett, and Elisa Lasowski. Character details for the rest of the ensemble have been revealed, so there has to be a reason why Kurt and Wyatt's roles are being kept under wraps. One thing we can say is that this series just got a whole lot more exciting.

The still-untitled project takes place in the aftermath of "the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking new reality that monsters are real," with the focus put on "one family’s journey to uncover its buried secrets and a legacy linking them to the secret organization known as Monarch."

Legendary Television is producing this MonsterVerse TV series that was co-created by Chris Black (Star Trek: Enterprise) and Matt Fraction (Hawkeye), with the former serving as showrunner. WandaVision's Matt Shakman will direct the first two episodes and serve as an executive producer.
