March is shaping up to be an extremely exciting month for movies, and the release of Godzilla vs. Kong on the 31st looks set to be the best way to wrap the month up. With that release on HBO Max fast approaching, we have a new motion poster and a TV spot revealing the history between the Titans.

It seems their ancestors clashed long ago, so there's a built-in rivalry which could explain what leads to this face-off.

However, based on what we see here, Godzilla is the antagonist. If you've been keeping up with recent leaks, though, you'll know that there may be a little more to that story than meets the eye.

We also have confirmation of how big Godzilla and Kong are; the latter is 384 feet tall, while the giant ape comes in at 335 feet tall. So, there's a slight height difference, but something tells us the ruler of Skull Island will more than make up for that by bringing the muscle and brawn to this fight.

The cast of Godzilla vs. Kong includes Alexander Skarsgård, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri, Eiza González, Julian Dennison, Kyle Chandler, and Demián Bichir. It's set to be released on March 31st in the U.S., though it's simply "Coming Soon" in countries where theaters remain closed (it has been dated for March 26th in a handful of locations).

The King is going down and the God will rise

@dracula - I was actually thinking the opposite. Kong hasn't had the title of "KING" yet, and the last Godzilla film had the subtitle : King of the Monsters", so i'm going with Kong getting his King Kong title by end of this one.

@Jaykay21 - I was thinking they’re making king out to be the hero in the trailers as he’s an American icon, whereas Godzilla is on loan from Japan

@Jaykay21 - Kong's king of Skull Island so he's already a king

@Jaykay21 - kong will not beat godzilla. King will be added to his name after he runs back to skull island or hollow earth

@Havenless - it's a misdirect. Godzilla won't be the villain. I think he will be destroying monarch outposts to try and stop mechagodzilla(because of the gidorah head and godzilla skeleton inside it) I think kong will lose and they will truce to destroy machag afterwords kong will have to leave the surface

"Save...Mothra"
My name is James and that was your daily dose of overused BvS references.
But yeah I'm looking forward to this. No bells or whistles needed, just want a stupid giant monster flick with a gorilla and a lizard beating the shite outta each other.

Is Godzilla smaller than previous (recent) films or the same size?

I hope they tease destroyah in the credits. Destroyah or gigan should be the next kaiju they introduce into a godzilla film

I'm just curious as to how studios will measure "success" now going forward with the U.S. boxoffice seemingly crippled for the foreseeable future.

Of course, China is dominating going forward, but what is success in the U.S.? How many (temporary or not) subscriptions to HBO Max or these other services do they need to make a profit considering how dead theatres are domestically?
