STAR TREK: Q Returns & Seven Loses Her Borg Implants In First Teaser Trailer For PICARD Season 2

Easily the biggest announcement to come out of "First Contact Day" back in April was the imminent return of Q, with John de Lancie set to reprise the role of the near-omnipotent interdimensional being. Now, we have our first look at an older incarnation of the fan-favorite character in a new teaser trailer for the second season of Paramount+'s Picard.

We're not sure how Q will factor into the story, but we hear him welcome his old frenemy to “the very end of the road not taken,” as we see shots of the various returning cast members. Then, right at the end, Seven of Nine waked up to find her Borg implants have been removed.

Check out the promo below and see if you can figure out what's going on!

Introduced during the first season of The Next Generation, Q was initially antagonistic to the crew of the Enterprise before becoming more of an antihero-type and eventual mentor to Picard as the series progressed. He also made several appearances in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Voyager and Lower Decks.

Season 2 of Picard is expected to premiere in 2022. Rejoining Patrick Stewart as the iconic starship captain will be Alison Pill, Isa Briones, Evan Evagora, Michelle Hurd, Santiago Cabrera, Jeri Ryan, Orla Brady and Brent Spiner.

Too bad the show is such a disapointment.

How about getting Ronald D Moore for a Deep Space 9 revival (best star trek series), there was a plan for another season that would have picked up years later

@dracula - after Discovery I still haven't checked out season 1 of this. I'm worried though. Haven't heard basically anything positive.

If you like Discovery and Picard, you're not an OG fan. Season one was absolute garbage. The writers are window lickers and the 65 producers should all be fired. Having said that, I love Q.. [frick] this up and I'm storming Paramount haha. Seriously, fix your trash CBS. Also looking forward to either a Re:View or Mr. PLINKETT episode lol

@bobevanz - Thanks for telling us who is and isn't a fan for everyone in the world who has ever watched a Star Trek episode, especially the original series. What B.S.

@Mugens - i found the original series to be rubbish, the films on the otherhand are great. Thing i like about Discovery is that the crew arent all "model figures" in terms of physique. Love Tilly.

@darkginger - Its strange. I don't know how many times I have read the suggestion that any new Trek show should be way off in the future of the timeline of TNG/DS9/Voyager. Now that Discovery has done just that, people bitch about how bad it is, which it isn't IMHO. (Yeah I love me some Tilly too!) Just can't satisfy everyone I guess.

@darkginger - I think a lot of that depends on when and how old you were watching TOS. I was a kid in the 70s and absolutely loved it but rewatching now, I can definitely see how younger generations would find it very corny.

@grendelthing - my 1st trek was Next Gen. Love Voyager and have been rewatching DSP, Which is fantastic.
I think 1 of the reasons why people dont like Discovery is because its "woke".....which is ironic considering that is exactly what trek has always been about.

Never thought I would see the day when John de Lancie reprising Q wouldn't get me hyped, but I guess modern Trek has just broken me so badly.

Borg implants? Is that a euphemism?

Well, despite the undoubtedly flawed first season I liked Picard well enough, so I'm still looking forward to S2.

What I didn't expect was Lower Decks becoming my favourite modern Star Trek show.

@Kyos - I personally hate self aware parody humor on serious franchises. I dont need everything to be serious all the time nor do i hate comedy, its just harder for me to suspend disbelief after someones been clowning on how ridiculous things are. A great comedian can even pick apart good movies, Honest Trailers and Pitch Meetings are perfect examples, so i just prefer to keep certain franchises serious. i have no interest in a parody Lord of the Rings Cartoon, or a humorous ER cartoon reboot.
