THOR: RAGNAROK Actor Karl Urban Talks Quentin Tarantino's STAR TREK

Many were surprised when it was revealed that Quentin Tarantino was to spearhead a new STAR TREK film and while much is still unknown about the project KARL URBAN has been fielding questions about it.

It's been a very interesting and exciting time to be a Star Trek fan. Our first show in 12 years, Star Trek: Discovery, just wrapped a brilliant first season. The comics are giving us a Mirror Universe version of The Next Generation. And Paramount have hired The Revenant scribe Mark L Smith to write a new film based on a pitch from Quentin Tarantino of all people -- who is also lined up to produce and possibly direct.

While next to nothing is known about the latter project, least of all if it will ever come to fruition, speculation and opinions are abundant in response to this left of field choice.

Speaking to LRM, Karl Urban, who plays Dr McCoy in the rebooted movies, had this to say about the prospect of a Tarantino helmed Star Trek film:

"I think it's a really exciting idea. He is a dynamic filmmaker. Even if I wasn't in the Star Trek movie, I would go to a Star Trek movie by Quentin Tarantino. That's for sure."

When pushed on whether or not the film would feature himself and the rest of the reboot cast, who were last seen boldly going in 2016's underperforming but highly praised Star Trek Beyond, Urban stated:

"Here's the thing - they're in the really early stages of development at this time. Quentin is about to direct his Hollywood film with Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio. You're talking about a film after film. Ultimately, at the end of the day, the ball's in Paramount's court. Hopefully, they'll green light another Star Trek movie. If they do it, then it'll be a lot of fun."

The future of the Star Trek movie franchise has been in some question following the decline in box office for each subsequent film and it's not clear if Tarantino's project will stick with the current crew of the USS Enterprise or create an original group of characters to fulfill this vision. Only time will tell.

What do you think? Would you like to see Urban and Co return for a fourth film? Are you interested in a Tarantino led Star Trek film? Where would you like to see the films go? Leave your thoughts below.
