New STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI Merchandise May Reveal A Significant Luke Skywalker Spoiler

There's an awful lot we don't know about Star Wars: The Last Jedi but a new piece of merchandise for the highly anticipated sequel may drop a surprising new detail about Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker...

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is a movie understandably shrouded in secrecy and much of that seems to revolve around the role Luke Skywalker will play. We know that he's frightened by Rey's power and will probably wind up reluctantly training her but a new piece of merchandise points to him wielding his father's lightsaber. He's clearly gotten rid of the green one from Return of the Jedi but if he uses this, what will Rey wield? That remains to be seen but a fight between Luke and Kylo would be epic!

There's been a lot of speculation that the movie will feature flashbacks to the night Ben Solo became Kylo Ren as it was that traumatic event which led to Luke going into hiding for a number of years.

Chances are Star Wars: The Last Jedi will make us think that the hero has given up on being a Jedi only for us to then get a hero moment which finally sets him on the right path. We'll have to wait and see but this merchandise definitely features a very interesting reveal, don't you think? One final trailer is expected to be released soon so perhaps that will shed more light on what's to come in the film.

I hope we get some crazy @$$ lightsaber battles in this one

His lightsaber was yellow on the original Star Wars poster, and then that carried over to his action figure. I don't think we should read too much into merchandise.

@TheFamousJMC - You mean back when nobody, including the studio and the production crew had any faith in Star Wars? It's different now, there's people now who's job is to literally make sure everything matches continuity wise.

@Canon108 - I'm not sure we're going to get a reply to this one

@obarium - I mean he threw it away on the death star, no one knows if he picked it up. But he's a [frick]ing jedi after that with no lightsaber!? Of COURSE he has one somewhere.

@toylled - He didn’t throw it away he uses it in Shattered Empire which takes place straight after ROTJ

@JakeofAllTrades - Ok it is clear I don't watch these movies enough with a critical eye. That being said I am pretty much half blind in one eye. Make of that what you wish.

Wasn't this clearly obvious from the trailers. He is just teaching Rey in the scene the cup is showing. He was doing this in the trailer.

@JoshWilding Bro, when you make these articles, may I ask what goes through your mind? Is it just for the $$$ or do you actually think there's something informational in this?
You're quickly becoming the clickbait king here friend. A consequence of writing for WhatCulture I'm guessing.

I honestly think that Rey could turn dark and Kylo could turn light. I know it seems unlikely because he killed his parents. But it would make for a very unexpected plot shift.

Options I’d like to see;
Kylo and Rey are good. And new villains will surface
Luke turns bad, kylo and Rey must defeat Luke
Rey kylo and Luke must take on knights of ren
TomSolo
TomSolo - 10/29/2017, 9:26 AM
@InvisibleMan - Or! Kylo can’t kill his Mom, so he runs from Snoke, seeks out Rey, who is on the run from Luke. Luke has gone nuts out of fear of powerful force users and is actively hunting Rey to protect the galaxy. Rey and Kylo must take down Snoke and his crew, save or kill Luke and also deal with Benicia del Toro’s character, which could be a grey Jedi Ezra.
ImmovableForce
ImmovableForce - 10/29/2017, 12:00 PM
@InvisibleMan - My predictions: Rey, without adequate guidance from Luke, turns gradually to the dark side. Kylo can't bring himself to kill his mother and turns firmly against Snoke after Snoke kills his mother anyway. Also he realizes Snoke really had been deceiving him as his father warned. He decides to turn back to the light.

WruceBayne - 10/29/2017, 2:49 PM
@InvisibleMan - that’s exactly what i said. Rey is going to the dark side and the only one who’s going to be able to stop her is Kylo. I’ll even go as far as to say Rey is going to kill Luke Skywalker.

So I rewatched VII last night and noticed something in the aerial shot of luke and rey. Just to the right of luke their is a stone that looks awfully close to a tombstone. Just wanted to say that.

Now I dont think luke is gonna wield the blue lightsaber. Its just a piece of marketing

In the force vision in episode vii, Kylo is holding Luke's green saber. So he obviously takes it when he destroys the academy.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 10/29/2017, 7:08 AM
@Canon108 - No he isn't. That image of Kylo Ren holding what looks like a lightsaber was taken from the trailer. It isn't even in the actual movie.

There is a similar shot in the movie, but it is taken from a very high aerial view and you can't see if he's holding anything.

Also, the image everyone is mentioning? It doesn't look anything like Luke's green lightsaber. Google it. There is a lightened image of it. Its definitely a cylindrical metal object but it does not have the same things, like the black grips or unique emitter that Luke's saber has.

CorndogBurglar - 10/29/2017, 7:20 AM
@Canon108 -

In this image, I have no idea how anyone can say, definitely, that this is Luke's green lightsaber. But its moot anyway because this image isn't even in the movie.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 10/29/2017, 7:22 AM
@Canon108 -

Here it is even more visible. It still doesn't look like Luke's green lightsaber.

He's in the garb he's wearing at the end of TFA, so this could merely be a training scene or Luke just turning it on after rey gives it to him.
