We still don't have an official title for Star Wars: Episode IX, but we do know that production is set to commence today on the final instalment of the Skywalker saga, which will see The Force Awakens' J.J. Abrams return to the director's chair.

Lucasfilm hasn't released anything to mark the occasion (at least, not yet) but we do have some behind-the-scenes pics courtesy of returning star John Boyega.

The actor posted some images and a video to his Instagram page which show him working out, and welcoming new cast member Naomi Ackie to the set. It's also hard not to notice that Boyega has brown his hair out to reprise the role of Stormtrooper turned Resistance fighter, Finn.

The Last Jedi proved to be a divisive entry in the series, but the announcement that Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher would be appearing in Episode IX seems to have gone a long way to restoring the faith of the disillusioned.

Tell us, are you looking forward to finding out how the new trilogy ends? Sound off below.

Welcome to a whole new world Naomi Ackie! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

“but the announcement that Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher would be appearing in Episode IX seems to have gone a long way to restoring the faith of the disillusioned.” I don’t think there’s anything to back that up.
