Okay, so it’s not strictly a comic-book-to-movie film but who’s complaining? Okay, so it’s not strictly a comic-book-to-movie film but who’s complaining?

Charlize Theron looks stunning as Aeon Flux, the futuristic super spy from a mid-1990s MTV cartoon now being made into a movie.

This shot from the most recent Entertainment Weekly is just one of three that have showed up since the film was announced.

Director Karyn Kusama (Girlfight) will helm the film about “a mercenary assassin plotting against a totalitarian government,” according to the mag.

"She’s part assassin, part manic-depressive," said Kusama. "She’s complicated–she’s not Charles Bronson in a catsuit."

As for the Oscar-winning actress (who cleans up real nice from her performance in Monster): "This is very much a character piece," Theron said. "[We’re all] so into the characters that we’ll be stuck in a [dramatic] scene for days. Then all of a sudden it’s like, Oh yeah, now we have to do some wirework, now I have to kill somebody with my hands."

Enjoy the pics!
