Alien: Covenant has begun its worldwide theatrical release, and a new clip has now arrived online ahead of the film's U.S. bow next Friday.

The clip sees two of the ship's redshirts crew members encounter a deadly Facehugger with some gruesome results. A closer look at the setting indicates that this scene may take place in the cave that David (Michael Fassbender) has made into his home on the planet.

Check the clip out below and let us know what you think! Alien: Covenant releases on May 19, 2017.

“Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the ‘synthetic’ David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.”

I saw it yesterday. Really enjoyed it! Even more than I enjoyed Prometheus.

Also, this is a straight sequel to Prometheus. With aliens with it.

Won't go into spoilers, but will tell you one thing - Fassbender! An extraordinary actor. He elevated the film for me.

8/10

Guys, if you've seen the film, please keep spoilers to a minimum, warning or no warning. People get testy here when they're spoiled, accidentally or not.

@MattBellissimo - Sure, thank you for the advice as well as deleting my original comment. I had put spoiler warning but realize it may be too early for releasing a spoiler review here.

I get that most of the crew are gonna be xeno-fodder in these type of movies anyway, but are they determined to spoil EVERY bloody death?

@RorMachine - He probaly doesent die, i seem to remember a shot of him running later in one of the trailers.

They have spoiled some deaths annoylingy though

@RorMachine - They are obviously trying to appeal to this desensitized generation by showing it to them rather than alluding to it. [BELCH]

After that clip, guarantee someone is going to ask "why did it burn his face? This movie has plot holes". I hope they didn't dumb this movie down because ppl lacked imagination or needed everything answered for them in prometheus

kylo0607 - 5/12/2017, 3:57 AM
@Vigor - It's not dumbed down, but prepare for some DUMB, dumb crew members and decisions.

If you thought the crew in Prometheus was dumb, wait for this one.

@Vigor - Pretty sure they explained in the first film why it can't be detached without harm

Movie is alright. Fassbender is the best thing about it. But one thing that annoys me is that the characters keep making the worst and stupidest decisions in each situation that they face, with the exception maybe of the main character of the group, but I guess that's how most horror movies go.

From everything, it sounds like Alien Covenant will be as divisive as Prometheus.

Funny how things turn out

@NoMeaning45 - It will be probaly be seen better than promethues in the end.

@NoMeaning45 - I've been expecting it to be that way since the beginning, in all honesty.

@MattBellissimo - It was kinda obvious since the film started looking like a "back to basics" film.

It's probably going to be another Force Awakens - type situation.

Saw it last night. Absolutely loved it. Favourite film in the franchise without doubt, better than Alien. Although characters outside of Fassbender and Tallehassee the cowboy pilot are pretty forgettable and dull. Noomi was a better lead. I love the philosophy explored in the film. David is outstanding. Better than in the first film. It's just brilliant. Scary, great effects, beautiful cinematography and locations. Reminds me of Westworld and other such shows and films exploring intruiging philosophy while still going all in on the sci fi blockbuster elements.

@connorblaze - Agree about most your points. While it wasn't better than Alien/Aliens for me, it was still an impressive entry and probably better than Prometheus.

And YES about Fassbender - he was OUTSTANDING in this. Can't believe what impressive things they've done with David so far in this franchise.

And the visuals and cinematography were glorious!

@connorblaze - "better than alien"

@connorblaze - better than Prometheus, not even close to Alien

@connorblaze - Definitely not brilliant, my opinion though. Maybe something like 6/10 or 5.5/10.

man they are showing way too much stuff from this movie before it comes out.
GeneralZod

@grif - I am thinking the same thing grif. Is this what it's come to? All these teaser trailers, multiple trailers, then clips, "prequel clips," you put it all together, you get a general idea and then I would think a lot of people will say, "I will wait to order it on PPV." Makes no sense. Should be one trailer to get people jacked, and that's it. Like the incredible Ragnarok trailer -- I don't need to see anything else, they will have my money! I'm going to see Covenant because I'm a huge Ridley Scott fan, but I pretty much know what's going to happen at this point.

DukeSimian - 5/12/2017, 7:32 AM
Wouldn't worry too much, they haven't spoiled it in the way they did with the Prometheus trailers. It's a better film but it suffers from the same problem, in that it thinks it's way deeper and meaningful than it actually is. Also, I still think these are prequels to Alien: the Director's Cut and that Scott couldn't give a damn about the sequels.

@DukeSimian - So...no alien queen then? Just the idea that xenomorphs convert human bodies into eggs?
