Sigourney Weaver Says Neill Blomkamp’s ALIEN 5 Will "Break A Lot Of New Ground"

While talking with Variety, Actor Sigourney Weaver not only reveals that she couldn't think of a better director to direct the new Alien film, but it will "break a lot of new ground as well.”

In a recent interview with Variety, Sigourney Weaver - who has starred in every Alien film - says that she could not "think of a better director" to direct the newest film in the Alien Franchise. While saying that, she also says she thinks Neill Blomkamp will take the Alien universe in an unexpected direction, while breaking new grounds. "I think he’ll be true to the world and take it in unexpected directions. It’s got a lot of sinew in it. It will certainly stand up to the others and probably break a lot of new ground as well.”

Sigourney Weaver has appeared in every Alien film, except for the Alien Vs Predator films, so she would be among the few people who know if the franchise is in good hands. Very little details were released about the film thus far, but all we know as of now is that we'll see Sigourney Weaver back in action as Ripley taking on some Xenomorphs! Are you excited for the new film? Sound off below with your thoughts!

Really excited for Neil's take on it. We've seen how passionate he was creating concept art and models just for the fun of it.

Are they going to make Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection all just a dream sequence when we find Ripley on Hyper Sleep? Would be a very smooth way to transition from those two films without beheading them. lol

They can actually set this one even further in the future if they wanted to. If Weaver is this old now imagine how long she's been traveling in space? Unless she made her way back home after Aliens wrapped up.

I feel like people use the "Break A Lot Of New Ground" card a lot and most of the time, they did not break anything, that's not to say it wont be an outstanding film

Superman Returns is suppose to be a sequel to Superman 2 and 3/4 comes after? Its like a in-between sequel?

Not sure how that could work in the Alien cannon.

I am really looking forward to this. I really loved "District 9" and even "elysium" despite some people not liking the movie but i do think that his film one is especially suited for an "Alien" movie.

Also Alien Isolation is amazing.

If Bloomkamp's film will truely pick up after the events of Aliens then I look forward to seeing Ripley's ginger pussy (my favourite character in Aliens).
