It was recently rumoured that James Franco will appear in Alien: Covenant, but many fans doubted that an actor as well known as the Why Him? star could have joined the cast without it being revealed online beforehand. However, in two new interviews with HeyUGuys and We Got This Covered, Franco confirmed his involvement and expressed his excitement to be part of the Prometheus sequel.

He wouldn't however shed any light on the character he plays, but we've heard that he'll be the Captain of the Covenant and that the star will factor heavily into the movie's viral marketing campaign.

A brief synopsis for the highly anticipated movie was also revealed last year, and it teases: "Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the ‘synthetic’ David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition."

The cast of Alien: Covenant also includes Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Billy Crudup, Noomi Rapace, and Guy Pearce, and as you can see below, it will be released on May 19th.
