Acclaimed director Alex Garland is set to reunite with Ex Machina distributor A24 for a new sci-fi film called Men (this may not be the final title). The project will mark Garland’s first feature since 2018's Annihilation, though he has since worked on mind-bending FX on Hulu series, Devs.

Plot details are few and far between, but the movie is said to focus on "a young woman who goes on a solo vacation to the English countryside after the death of her ex-husband." It sounds like a straightforward drama, but Deadline reports that there will be "sci-fi elements."

Up-and-coming Irish actress Jessie Buckley (Fargo season 4, I'm Thinking of Ending Things) is in line to play the lead, with Rory Kinnear (Penny Dreadful, No Time To Die) in talks for a supporting part. Buckley's role is said to have been "one of the most highly sought-after" among Hollywood's rising stars.

Garland also penned the script. Scott Rudin, who produced his previous projects, will return as producer along with Eli Bush and DNA’s Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich.

We'll hopefully have more details to share about the mysterious Men soon, but any new Alex Garland project should be cause for excitement.
