Im hoping for the best with this, but i just feel its a waste of a good budget that could've made something special!

L.E.G.I.O.N would've been a BILLION times better! Even could've had a LOBO appearance!

Heck SUPERGIRL spin off would've been better! (Shes in V by the way).

Oh well...

I agree Leee. I'm looking forward to see what they've come up with. I just hope I'll be able to get the word out there about the "V" site.

I think you have ED lol!

Hey i'll probably love this show when it comes out! ; )

EdGross - 6/22/2009, 7:38 PM
Well, it's one thing to mention it, but it's something very different for people to actually click over to the site.

With Smallville -- if Star Trek taught us anything this summer, it's that fresh writers and a fresh approach could really shake things up.

that mini series scared the sh!t out of when it came on T.V.
EdGross
EdGross - 6/22/2009, 8:18 PM
I was definitely pretty blown away by it when it first aired (which is probably why I'm still writing about it and creating sites devoted to it some 26 years later).

Phinehas - 6/22/2009, 8:39 PM
You know, the 80's put out some mini-series that were pretty top-notch back in the day.

"V"
North and South
The Stand (May have been early 90's but still had 80's vibe)
Roots (I think it was late 70's but was picky up that 80's vibe by then)

Can you think of any???

I remembering wanting to see this but being sent to bed. All the kids would come in the next day talking about it and couldnt believe I didnt watch it. I dont feel that deprived now though knowing I wasnt the only one.. RoR said he couldnt either... I thought I was the only one! I want to see it this time around!
And I hope its good. Was the original good? Scary, really?

LEEE777: Supergirl was in V? nahhhh... must be another one of your jokes! you kill me! =)

EdGross: Count on me to spread the word!
KeepItReal
KeepItReal - 6/22/2009, 8:42 PM
Phinehas: I remember everyone talking about ROOTS too! Something else I havent seen. What I remember watching was The Dukes of Hazzard & The Greatest American Superhero but I dont know if it was the 80's.
Phinehas
Phinehas - 6/22/2009, 8:46 PM
The Dukes of Hazard definitely began in 1980.

"Just the good ol' boys
Never meanin' no harm

Beats all you ever saw
Been in trouble with the law
since the day they was born"

Ah, the memories! Thanks, KIR.

I appreciate all the help I can get in letting people know about it. And -- in case you're not aware of it -- Laura Vandervoort is in the new "V" as a Visitor named Lisa.

Phinehas: "Ah, the memories! Thanks, KIR." ;)

I LOVED THE DUKES OF HAZZARDS. One of the few times I can look back fondly. That and Miami Vice, Night Court, and gg... Love Boat (LOL).
Phinehas
Phinehas - 6/22/2009, 9:05 PM
"Few times?"

Don't forget
Macguyver
A Team
Airwolf
Magnum PI

You know, all the opening them songs on these shows were pretty good! And original I might add. Today, they just use pop songs.
KeepItReal
KeepItReal - 6/22/2009, 9:10 PM
Oh ATEAM!! HOW COULD I FORGET IT?!! THANKS PHINEHAS! I would LOVE if they could do THAT movie! I loved it! lol... Magnum PI... hehe... I used to think he was cute but now I am older and wiser I say.. WHAT?! haha...

I can't believe no one's mentioned Manimal or Knight Rider, damn the 80s had great TV.

And V, that brings back scary memories, hopefully this one will manage to keep some of the coolness of the original. I do think it has the potential to be great.
Phinehas
Phinehas - 6/22/2009, 9:14 PM
I loved when they tore there face off!

Regarding A team, I remember as kid wishing they took themselves a little more seriously. The concept of the show is just awesome! Bullets firing and noone shot, the Culture Club showed up and I knew my interest was over.
I felt the same way about Dukes too, but not too serious, like A team should have been.
Phinehas
Phinehas - 6/22/2009, 9:17 PM
Greatest American Hero
Knight Rider
The Fall Guy
KeepItReal
KeepItReal - 6/22/2009, 9:27 PM
Oh yes! Knight Rider! The remake of it wasnt too bad?.. but it didnt have the same magic as when Hasselfoff did it.

Oh, this has been the best article I think. Good memories.. The Fall Guy.. is that Lee Majors?... I dont remember that one I dont think.
Phinehas
Phinehas - 6/22/2009, 9:34 PM
Yeah, Lee Majors. It didn't take off, but again, great concept about a part time bondsman and hollywood stunt man. Every TV remake they do turns to turds today. Bionic Woman, Night Rider, and just about everything else flops (save Battlestar Galactica) because they totally miss what the appeal was.
KeepItReal
KeepItReal - 6/22/2009, 9:53 PM
"Every TV remake they do turns to turds today." LOL... Its like they try to recapture the moment but the moment is gone. Too bad cuz I really loved those shows.
Phinehas
Phinehas - 6/22/2009, 10:04 PM
Well, I think it can be done. It's just that they feel they (networks) must input today's dark ethical pathos on every main protagonist. But, with a few exceptions, most people want their heroes unblemished or untaited.
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 6/22/2009, 10:22 PM
Look all im saying lol is V remake has some big shoes to fill! I really hope its a huge hit! I love the original so much, hoping for the best! ; )

Still BSG surprised me so who knows!!!

Yeah an i did like the new TREK movie an i hate Star Trek lol!! : D

Phinehas
Phinehas - 6/22/2009, 10:24 PM
LEEE777: Street Hawk, is that the one with the motorcycle? What about Voyagers?
NoobMike
NoobMike - 6/22/2009, 10:27 PM
I know that this is totally unrelated but I just saw the teaser for Avatar: the last airbender, and I feel some hope after seeing it... even if it's directed by Shyamalan, it does seem to capture the essence of the cartoon. I would post it but I haven't beenable to make new posts for a long time.

Yeah! I remember Manimal. The changing sequences were likened to that of American Werewolf in London!

I hope you espaniol is bueno!
KeepItReal
KeepItReal - 6/22/2009, 11:24 PM
Never seen moonlight?... isnt that with Cybil Shepard & Bruce Willis? ( I used to sneak sometimes to watch it!)it got really silly towards the end with the clay animation... or was that Remington Steele? no, I think that was with Pierce Brosnan?..

Mi espanol es muy bueno... but my memory of manimal is not? I have never heard of that one! lol... =)
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 6/22/2009, 11:31 PM
Thats MOONLIGHTING in it??? I think Moon lights a vamp show??? Keep @ MANIMAL is where the guy turns into a black panther or an eagle mainly anyway lol!
Phinehas
Phinehas - 6/22/2009, 11:33 PM
1. It was "Moonlighting" with an I-N-G
2. Yes. Remington Steele was Pierce Brosnan. He was being considered for Bond even then but that show's contract prohibited him from doing it. Like Selleck's did with Raiders.
3. I don't recall claymation.

Again, not the greatest theme music on that one...
KeepItReal
KeepItReal - 6/22/2009, 11:36 PM
ooops! sorry... I thought you meant moonlight from the 80's. The one they just cancelled was about vamps & nick St Clair... It was alright, it grew on you but I didnt like it at first. They said someone in the cast couldnt get along so it had to be cancelled... at least its what I read anyways...

I never got to see manimal... sorry =P

p.s. Ahhh, moonlighting... gg.. thanks...The clay towards the end when Cybil got pregnant & I think they were trying to hide it... I remember my sis saying how dumb it looked...haha..
