His concerns that Earth's oceans are becoming "unsurvivable" for many lifeforms will be the theme of the second movie. He also said there will be other planets besides Pandora.

The director of the highest grossing movie of all time sat down with ABC for an interview in which he discusses a few key details about the sequels to Avatar. He is writing the second and third films in the Avatar franchise at the same time. Surprisingly his comments imply that he hasn't even started the design work on the marine life of Avatar 2.
