Apple Original Films has officially announced that Finch, an upcoming post-apocalyptic sci-fi drama directed by 2x Primetime Emmy-winner Miguel Sapochnik (Game of Thrones; True Detective; House of the Dragon), will arrive on November 5, streaming exclusively on Apple TV+.

The film stars 2x Academy Award-winner Tom Hanks (Toy StoryCast AwayForrest Gump) in the lead role as an ailing inventor named Finch, who is one of the last men on Earth, and Caleb Landry Jones (X-Men: First ClassGet Out, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri) as his robot Jeff.

Finch, initially announced by Universal Pictures as BIOS, was originally slated to open in theaters October 2, 2020, but due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, it was delayed to April 16, 2021, then to August 2021. Earlier this summer, Universal decided to sell the film to Apple, where it was retitled Finch.

Craig Luck and Ivor Powell penned the original screenplay.

This is actually Hanks' second release on Apple TV+, following last year's Greyhound.

The streamer's upcoming lineup boasts plenty of A-list talent with Antonie Fuqua's Emancipation starring Will Smith, Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro, Joel Coen's The Tragedy of Macbeth starring Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand, and Benjamin Cleary's Swan Song starring Mahershala Ali and Naomie Harris.

In “Finch,” a man, a robot and a dog form an unlikely family in a powerful and moving adventure of one man’s quest to ensure that his beloved canine companion will be cared for after he’s gone. Hanks stars as Finch, a robotics engineer and one of the few survivors of a cataclysmic solar event that has left the world a wasteland. But Finch, who has been living in an underground bunker for a decade, has built a world of his own that he shares with his dog, Goodyear. He creates a robot, played by Jones, to watch over Goodyear when he no longer can. As the trio embarks on a perilous journey into a desolate American West, Finch strives to show his creation, who names himself Jeff, the joy and wonder of what it means to be alive. Their road trip is paved with both challenges and humor, as it’s as difficult for Finch to goad Jeff and Goodyear to get along as it is for him to manage the dangers of the new world.

@marvel72 - Same. I actually actively avoided it just because it is an apple product, but I am starting to gain interest though.

@marvel72 - I got for a month and only watched one episode of an original show they did before I canceled it. There was nothing in there that grabbed me. 🤷‍♂️

@marvel72 - personally I think Apple has some of the highest quality TV of the streaming networks. Ted Lasso, Mythic Quest, Morning Show, For All Mankind...

Not a lot of quantity, but high quality.

I just found out the other day that all these Hollywood A Listers actually supported Roman Polanski when he was imprisoned. And he actually admitted to raping that girl.
So that sucks :/

Apple TV+ really is starting to gain an interesting library. Might take a trail when The Foundation is released and whats every one of those movies, Ted Lasso and The Banker.
