Dr. Will Caster (Johnny Depp) is the foremost researcher in the field of Artificial Intelligence, working to create a sentient machine that combines the collective intelligence of everything ever known with the full range of human emotions. His highly controversial experiments have made him famous, but they have also made him the prime target of anti-technology extremists who will do whatever it takes to stop him. However, in their attempt to destroy Will, they inadvertently become the catalyst for him to succeed—to be a participant in his own transcendence. For his wife Evelyn (Rebecca Hall) and best friend Max Waters (Paul Bettany), both fellow researchers, the question is not if they can…but if they should. Their worst fears are realized as Will’s thirst for knowledge evolves into a seemingly omnipresent quest for power, to what end is unknown. The only thing that is becoming terrifyingly clear is there may be no way to stop him.

TRANSCENDENCE - directed by Wally Pfister, from a screenplay written by Jack Paglen. Christopher Nolan and his wife Emma Thomas are Executive Producers. The cast includes: Johnny Depp Paul Bettany, Rebecca Hall, Kate Mara, Cillian Murphy, Clifton Collins, Jr., and Morgan Freeman. In theaters and IMAX on April 18.

It is great to see Depp not in some funky costume for once!

Looks very interesting. Seeing Depp on those screens reminds me of how interesting it would have been to see him as the riddler! lol

Anyway, I love Nolan's movies and I can't wait to check this one out! I think he has a better feel for this one than he did with the last Dark knight film. His wife really wanted him to get away from the world of Batman. Glad to see he's back at his original craft. :)

Depp always impresses me when he looks like himself remember The Astronauts Wife? He was a freaky bastard in that.

This is a secret biopic of Steve Jobs, isn't it? And in the end it turns out he was a robot the whole time! And Morgan Freeman was totally in on it and lied to all his colleagues but everyone trusted him cause he's Morgan Freeman.

@SunfireUrA55 Get real please, Depp is still one of the most popular and biggest stars in hollywood and if linning up high profile projects with big studios and big names means his career is dead then yes his career is sooo dead! BTW he stood out in lots of movies other than Pirates.

@sinchsw @RichardBoldly and @ALmight

Lmboo! You all should see my face right now...smh I'm too derped out right now. For some reason I believe I got Interstellar and Transcendence mixed up. It does have the Nolan look to it so I guess that's how I got it confused. I just skipped identifying the director and went straight to the pics...Ha! Really appreciate it though fellas!

So it has become pretty standard for Morgan Freeman to be in the movie if it is a sci-fi movie. He has become a staple of the genre in the past few years.

this movie is directed by Wally Pfister, he is the DOP (director of photography) for almost all nolan's film, he really got good taste, and this is his debut movie directing it, i very much looking forward to this one! :)

I agree that Cillian is doing parts below his level of talent. At least that's what he seems to go for in these Hollywood big budget movies. He obviously likes working with Christopher Nolan and vice versa. It's contradictory though because he'll take on a massive challenge like a one man play on a huge stage in central London (and New York) which must be incredibly scary. I get the impression that he'll only take risks when he knows and trusts the Director/Producer.
