Disney inherited a number of movies from Twentieth Century Fox following the merger, and among the most exciting is
Free Guy starring Ryan Reynolds.
The
Deadpool 2 star plays an NPC who gains sentience in the video game world he calls home, something which leads to him fighting back against the players who make the life of NCPs difficult on a daily basis. There are some very funny shots at Disney during the opening few moments of this teaser, and it looks like a fun ride.
According to the official synopsis, the movie focuses on
"'Free Guy,' a bank teller who discovers he is actually a background player in an open-world video game, decides to become the hero of his own story…one he rewrites himself. Now in a world where there are no limits, he is determined to be the guy who saves his world his way…before it is too late."
The movie also stars Jodie Comer, Joe Keery, Lil Rel Howery, Utkarsh Ambudkar, and Taika Waititi, while it will be directed by Shawn Levy from a story by Matt Lieberman and a screenplay by Lieberman and Zak Penn.
